No evidence of Avascular Necrosis in my hips per the MRI scan I had last Friday night. Party! I can now finish school. Before we get too up and excited...I am excited that I don't need surgery right now. However, these next few months seem daunting. Got to get through until May now with splitting head pain and knee pain, because while the hips are home free, the knees continue down their path to total knee replacements. Well with some good, always some bad and vice versa. At least I CAN finish in May and get the hell out without having to take up yet another year. That's the positive. Thanks for all the continued support. Lizzie2/Carrie

Good news! !! !!! The knee news isn't as positive, but atleast you know that there is a limit to the AVN. Do Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D and Boron have any effect on AVN??

Looks like you got a mixed bag there. Good news with the hips and continued bad news on the knees. I hope you can finish school in May and then get those knees taken care of. You're gonna make one hell of a nurse. Gator

Thanks gang, I'm in a bad place tonight (despite the good news) so your words of encouragement help. I go through these extremely depressive phases (I know...SNAP the hell out of it...), and now seems to be one of those times where I'm wondering "if this is as good as it gets...then why in hell...?" I won't finish that. I just feel like I need a break from school, pressure, constant demands physically and emotionally from everyone around me. It feels like my sometimes fake positive exterior is crumbling because I'm tired of always smiling when I feel like shit. Know the feeling? My parents have been so supportive through all the headache stuff and now the AVN stuff, but my mom gets so angry if I get depressed over the pain. Her view is that I should just pull myself out of it because thinking this way doesn't help. She's right. It doesn't help. But I can't help how I feel. I am wondering why I have put myself through all of this educational hell when I don't even know if I will be able to hold a job for long with all the physical pain I am under on a daily basis. Floridian...unfortunately there is no medical treatment for AVN. Once it starts, it runs its own course. The only thing that slows it down is surgical intervention. Ultimately, the joint will collapse...it is just a matter of WHEN. If we can put that off for as long as possible, then I'll be happy. My main concern right now is pain control because it is a bastard of a different kind of pain! Jonny...Adult Video News sounds a bit more exciting than this... Sorry I'm being depressive. You know how it is sometimes. I get tired of keeping up appearances for those around me, and I know I can let down here around my family once in awhile. Thanks, Lizzie

I think you'll find lots of us Moms seem angry when our kids are depressed or in pain. It's not you she's angry with honey, it's the fact that you're hurting or you're down and she doesn't have the answers to make it better. When you were a little girl, everything could pretty much be made all better with a kiss to the owie. Now you're older, the owies are bigger and more serious, and we Moms can't so easily fix it. Then we get mad, but never at you hon - only the circumstances. Trust me on this one! Carol

| Carol, I'm smiling...with tears streaming down my cheeks too. Ahhhhh I wish they didn't have to know the hell I'm going through because I feel like somehow I have ruined their vision for their daughter. But I know I will feel the same way when I am a mom. Damn...I must be hormonal tonight!!! Thanks both Carol and Jonny, You are the best!!! Lizzie

Good for you for smiling thru the pain. I am a mom and I can't stand to see my child in pain so I agree with the others that your mom isn't angry with you she is angry that she can't do anything to help you. I bet a million dollars she would take the pain from you if she could. Keep on and best of luck finishing up nursing school! I am starting in the spring on my pre-reqs to start nursing school next fall! Is it as horrible as everyone says - I am so scared (but extremely excited!)!!! Karen

| OK I will be honest. Will this be your second degree and what type of program are you looking at going into? I am currently in a 12 month intensive second degree program. I'd be happy to tell you all about it if you want. This honestly is the hardest and sometimes worst thing I ever done in my life. I never have a break. I dont' do very well in my classes. I am in so much pain all the time that I think I will explode. But what it comes down to is that I LOVE nursing. I know what I want in the end, and that is helping me to put up with what I am going through now. If you really love it, you can do it. Hugz, Lizzie

Hang in there Lil' Sis! You have made it this far so I know you will do just fine. It is ok to let your family know how you REALLY feel...just learned that not too long ago myself. Be true to yourself, Lil' Sis. DD Now, where is the liink to the Adult Video News referred to in the title of this thread?
