I need new hands...

I've been trying to get my laundry put together today. With all the back and forth and stress with Mom's health recently I've gotten way behind on many household chores.
Thanks to the topomax this round the head is behaving much better than I expected, but the numb fingers is a killer. I can't lift the damn laundry basket without it dropping or my hands cramping up.
Who can come help me get this stuff to the laundry room?

new here, sorry, why numb fingers - is that a side effect of the medicine? I would come help you if I could!! Don't mind doing laundry but I do hate cleaning bathrooms, so if dirty toilets are on your list you are on your own on that one!!

Hmmm.
I took a lot of Topamax for my seizures but didn't have that for a side-effect.
Maybe you should tell the doctor.

I looked it up on www.drugdigest.org and it says that its one of the side effects you should report to your doctor (brilliant website BTW, as posted by Gator I think)
I hope you feel better soon. Wish you were nearer.. laundry is about my favourite job!

I used to get numb hands and feet from Topamax, and then my neuro suggested increasing the potassium in my diet. You definately want to check with a doc before increasing your potassium since it is one of those critical value electrolytes. However, numbness and tingling in the extremities is actually a really common side effect of topamax.
For me, it went away after I started to eat a whole lot more bananas and drink a whole lot more OJ! Other foods have lots of potassium too. You may want to just check with your doc. B12 might also be of some help? I'm pretty sure that I took B12 when I lost feeling in my hands due to some IV infiltrations to restore the nerves.
Definately check with your doc before trying any of this stuff, but it might just help you! Some people can get rid of the side effect with some changes, but I guess some people are still stuck with it. Worth a try IMHO!

Here's an idea. Bill (Racer1_NC), you stop by and pick up Paul (Vig). Then on your way north stop by Bowie, MD and we'll hop in the Meyer Mobile ('cause the cooler is ALWAYS full of cold beer and on the front of the Expediton) and drive up to Redd's. Bring cameras b/c it's gonna be a trip of a lifetime!
