Well, my daughter turns 10 yrs old tomorrow on Oct. 10. Yup, it's her golden Birthday. She hasn't always been your typical girlie girl, she's more of a tomboy who has always been more interested in dinosaurs than dolls, but we're cool with that. Anyway, I asked what she wanted for her birthday, and here's what she got... BTW, she named him Pickles... Yup, it's a Leopard Gecko who will get to be about 10 inches long, which means getting a 20 gallon tank in the near future. My husband who HATES reptiles, actually took to him right away, LOL! Anyhoo, Lily DID want a Veiled Chameleon, but alas they had only 1 in town and it was WAY beyond our budget, plus I didn't think it was a good 1st reptile pet. ahhhh kids, gotta love um! mel

I just LOVE it when we encourage our girls to NOT CONFORM to what society says they should like... I take every opportunity to encourage my daughters, nieces and girl scouts to put themselves out there and revel in the things THEY love. Good for you Mom!!!! BTW Pickles is just adorable! Happy Birthday Little Girlfriend

Thanks!!! Lily says thank you too! P.S. Pickles is still hiding in his cave. I'd freak out too if a 10yr old and 8yr old girls were runnin round the house like hyped up morons. *sigh* mom needs a vacation...

| The Stegasaurus would have been cool too, but Pickles gets the great Flintstonesque interior. I love reptiles and lizards. Happy Birthday Lily! Kevin M

Mel, I'm with Frank on this one. You're a great mom for getting something you knew Lily would REALLY enjoy. Happy Birthday Lily. btw.....I also agree with nani....I tell my daughter ALL the time that it's ok to NOT know how to cook at her age....after all, she'll be expected to do it for years to come.......soooo.........I've taught my boys to fend for themselves in the kitchen.........after all.......their future wife's mother may be teaching her daughter the same thing......LOL hugs all, EDNA

Yer nice people. Don't think ine would have been all that anxious for me to have something like this. Quote:Lily DID want a Veiled Chameleon, but alas they had only 1 in town |
| Actually, there are a lot of them in town. They just can't find them. Charlie

A Gecko in a room with pink walls.....now that's Kewl. If you ever come down here to Boca Grande, you'll find that Iguanas run free and are not protected. You can take a baby home and it'll grow to, Oh maybe, three-four feet long. I hear they make good house pets. Happy Birthday, Lily.

When I lived in Japan, I had two green iguanas as housepets. They are a little hyper, and the last thing you want to run into when you pad down to the kitchen late at night, in the dark, to get a drink of water. LOL! Still, they are very cool. What do ten-year old girls want for their birthdays? Cute ten-year old boys to smooch, of course. Kidding, I'm kidding... LOL -Frankzilla
