Hello all, I don't know where to start. I stumbled across this site while looking for information as to what to do with my head. I read several of the posts and though Oh my God this is my story. I have only started with Clusterheadaches for the last couple of months, sometimes for weeks on end. Yet when I was in my teens I suffered from them and then all of a sudden I didn't seem to get them much. Now 20 years later they have snuck up on my life. They started slow about a year ago where I would get one every couple of weeks and then I was fine. It was after I started having them on a consistent basis, in June I suffered for about two weeks, yet they were not too intense. Since August I have had a continual pain with intense episodes about once a week. During this last three weeks I have had to go to the emergency room twice the pain has been so intense this week that after the shot I usually go a week without pain and yet here I am two days later with a break and only a slight pressure in my skull. I have become so depressed and irritable, I don't know how my family can stand me. It is always hard to tell them that the pain that I feel is so intense that I just want to die. One of the most frustrating things is going to doctors who don't understand, I am so sick of hearing "is there alot of stress going on with you lately?" I just want to bang their head against the wall and ask them if they felt stress if I continued this for about a week. I haven't been to work for 3 out of 5 days this week and that is very helpful to my mood but nothing has seemed to help this week, meds, sleep, shots, prayer, nothing. Well thanks for listening.

Hi njb, the most difficult thing about a headache disorder is explaining it to others without sounding like the eejit we've all felt like at one time or another. glad you landed here. Things will get better***

Depressed and frustrated sounds familiar. What they givin you in the hospital? Have you been to the neurologist? I know it's tough, but with a plan and the proper meds you should be able to make it to work. No worky no eaty!! I seem to keep on keepin on, but it ain't easy and I have all the meds and a plan when I get hit. Hang tough! BB

Hi. Welcome aboard, but hope you don't need to stay. You didn't mention how often the attacks occur, how long the duration is, or what the medications you are using are. Do they wake you from a sleep? Are the one sided? Take the cluster quiz to the left of this page. it will not diagnose you, nor should you use it rather than a good neurologist to determine whether or not your truly have clusters. Get a good neurologist that is familiar with CH if possible. Print out information from this site and from OUCH and take it with you when you see your Dr. There are a number of things that you can do to help you cope. Not everything works for everyone, but MOST of us have been able to find things that make it so that we can cope with what we are dealing with. Most of all I would recommend O2. Check the link to the left and ask your Dr to prescribe it for you. Please post again and tell us a little more about your attacks, frequency, duration, meds, etc. Jerry

Welcome aboard and we've pretty much all been there. This is one place where everyone knows exactly what you're talking about. If you spend some time reading, you will find some good ideas for dealing with this horror. Thanks for your story and I hope you stick around and let us know how things are going. Charlie
