A good place to start to find answers would be at: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/wwwboard/messages/56485.html and read all of the replys below it. Also, use the search engine on this site. I promise you will be surprised at the information in the archives! Our archives cover just about every question ever thought up by a ch sufferer. Bob P is our expert on Serotonin and stuff related. Bob, will you step forward and point to some of your more informative posts re: ch and sleep?

One black day (Oct. 2, 2004) my post count of 1200 something, went back down to one. I'm an "old timer" in more ways than one.

Donna, you flatterer you! Hell if I know. Here is a link to an article in the OUCH Library that speaks of the REM / CH correlation in episodic clusterheads but not in chronics: http://www.clusterheadaches.org/library/general/rem.htm Would be an interesting exercise though. What changes take place in REM that could also trigger attacks? I do know that when in cycle I get hit 1 1/2 hours after I go to sleep, without fail. When not in cycle, I still wake up 1 1/2 hours after I go sleep, look at the clock and go back to sleep. The chronic/episodic thingy is interesting too. Seems to me that episodics get hit at REM and are triggered by alcohol. Chronics aren't hit at REM, seem to be able to drink alcohol and not get hit and a high percentage of sufferers who start in their 50's tend to be chronics. These are just observations of mine and not backed up by any studies.
