The world is full of problems.....

and I feel bad bout the experience we were all exposed to over the last few days in regard to a newbie asking for help while clearly under the influence of alcohol. We all know about clusterheadaches and alcohol, but when a newbie comes on board, what good does it do to insult them? Is it possible to insult someone who's under the influence? Will they even remember it? How long has this guy had ch? Does he even know yet what role alcohol plays? We surely did a shitty job of geting it acrossed to him. We are here to help people. If, after several conversations, we find that they are beyond our help, we can then tell them that they do not belong here. Clearly this person has a problem We don't know for sure if he ever suffered from ch. But, where has that old fashioned compassion gone that used to live here? In the earlier years we had a lot of desire to help anyone who mentioned ch. We helped them diagnose, we shared our advice. Sure, once in awhile we (certain of us) pounced on a couple of obvious fakes, but come on folks, this guy did not deserve what he got. This board IS changing. Any one agree? Yes, this board is for the social side of Clusterville, especially since it has been devided into catogories. But since when did we become so rude to a fellow clusterhead who wasn't really that out of line?

Donna FWIW, people did offer advice and people were patient. If, after the fourth or fifth time of offering sound advice, the person soliciting advice won't heed it, then the people trying to help are the ones left feeling insulted. The blade cuts both ways, Dear. (And no, the board isn't changing. It's all just human nature at work.) Chin up! I hope Davebrick chooses to stick around, but if not, that's up to him. It seems to me that he came in with a chip on his shoulder, and there's nothing anyone but Davebrick can do about that. -Frank

davebrick came here on Sept 3 asking questions and was happy to receive advice on meds and 02. Same on Sept 4 and again on the 8th. Now he's pissed when he's advised to not drink during a cycle. Go figure. No the board isn't changing. It has it's up and down days, argue and huggy-kissy-face days but it is pretty much even all the time.

BobG I am glad that you have taken minutes for the time that I have spent here. And I have really enjoyed the conversations and information that I have gathered from this site. And you very nice people but I do not remember anyone saying a statement to me as I quote "he's advised to not drink during a cycle. "

Hmmm.... You asked Quote:should I crack a beer or will that make it worse ????? |
| The answer was Quote:NO! For most alcohol is a trigger. Rum and cokes are probably what kicked it off. |
| To which you answered Quote:thanks, but do you know wheather it would help if I added alchol |
| The answer was Quote:No more alcohol! More than likely, that would just serve to aggravate it. |
| Then you said Quote: Your turn.

Maybe a "test" should be required before posting.......... This place is a resource facility, not a pity factory. It should be used as such, RJ

Donna, don't know if the board is changing. It is growing that's for sure........and i guess that means more of - well just MORE. Mr. Happy, you are wrong. If all that was needed was a "reference source" this place would be EMPTY. Your post is presumptuous and incorrect -- AND -- as the first page of this website explains - not created for you to dictate it's purpose. Perhaps you need to freshen up your own reading skills. No Bob's point was that you said that you don't remember anyone advising you not to drink while in cycle. Bob was just pointing out a couple of places where they did. There are others as well. You have already posted 36 posts and still want to argue. I am beginning to think that you just want to argue. If that is so, and you don't want to tap into the knowledge that this site can bring to help you in your cycle, than please go somewhere else. Jayne asked you some important questions to find out if we can help. Please read to the left and then come back if we can help. All chips on the shoulder, please leave at the door.

It is the "chip" that often tips the scale. I'd be last in line to see it go. It makes us who we are and is part of the equation. Picture a clusterhead with no "chip". I'll show you a person with no clusters.

Donna said, "I feel bad bout the experience we were all exposed to over the last few days in regard to a newbie asking for help while clearly under the influence of alcohol." Where were you Donna? Last few days? This all started a little before 6:00AM this morning! Quote: "Does he even know yet what role alcohol plays? We surely did a shitty job of geting it acrossed to him." I don't know how I could have put it to him more bluntly. If I did such a shitty job of getting it across to him, please tell me how you would have done it. Quote: "We don't know for sure if he ever suffered from ch." You got that one right! Quote: "Yes, this board is for the social side of Clusterville, especially since it has been devided into catogories. But since when did we become so rude to a fellow clusterhead who wasn't really that out of line?" You started this string Donna. Did you even read davebrick's original string, "so much pain right now" posted at 5:34AM today? Originally, I was the ONLY ONE responding to his pleas for help. I didn't go into any long-winded explanations on alcohol and CH. It sounded like he was hurting and I was just doing the best I could to help the guy. As inept as I may have been, I certainly don't think I was rude. If anyone's out of line Donna, it's you! .......................alley

| Awwwww........I don't wanna pick on Davey boy. First time I found this place, my head was ravaged, I was hammering down a tall glass of Jack Daniels, trying to kill the pain, when I stumbled across the little ditty about alcohol and CH. My reading skills sufficed that day, at least. Dave, you learned a valuable lesson. No real harm, no real foul. Climb up onto the roof of your trailer, yell at the top of your lungs, and spread the word. There's plenty more cool stuff to learn around here, much of it very helpful. | I believe the actual term was "resource facility." (see: reading skills. heh) There's _quite_ a difference between the two. Quote:not created for you to dictate it's purpose |

Alley....... I wasn't pincking on you or any other particular person. I wasn't even paying attention to who was saying what. I was "feeling" the difference in today's answers compared to when we were all still learning about what to try, who had the same symptoms, ya know, stuff like that. The difference between now and then is that we've heard the same questions so many times now that we don't take the time to give very good answers.....just little snippits. If you don't believe me, go back to about mid-1999 or so and really read for about an hour. Not just a few answers here and there, but page after page in sequence. OUCH is grown up now.....not just a kid anymore. It's bound to change, I'm sure. But it hurts to "feel" the difference in attitude. I still care about today's sufferer as I did about the first one I came acrossed. You all are loyal and good friends and good building blocks for OUCH or ch.com, which ever you prefer to frequent. But you did miss the pain of the early days as we grew from newborn OUCH to OUCH today.. Now, I'm not saying that that's a bad today. I'm just askin for you to think back about how happy you were to find us and learn that you're not alone anymore, and realize that that's how todays newbie feels too. Suppose you got started on the wrong foot....would you have fought back, kept quiet until you found your corner in this room or just left broken hearted? My personal experience was that I got slammed against the wall so hard that I got the wind knocked out of me by a guy named drummer. Surprised the hell out of me and did leave me in tears. I lurked for a while until I got to "know" a few of the personalities and the "netiqette" Then, I quietly made a few comments and it all grew from there. Drummer and I got to be pretty good friends. I've been here now since about October of 1999. So, Alley, if you want to think I was pointing at you, you're wrong. If I wanted to single someone out, I'd have called them by name. You can take this letter and really "read and feel" what I am saying, or you can just skim over it and forget it. I a baring my soul right now because I am crying and hurting over losing OUCH, which was a big and proud part of my life. Where have I been for a few days? Oh, on an MRI table for one thing. Out of work for 22 days now. Seems I've been in some bad pain for a couple of months and they found a Vertbra out of line, three bulging discs and a spinal stenosis that in 2 years has gone from moderate to severe. But that doesn't put any different color on life or the things I say. I feel like I lost something prescious when I quit the Board of Directors. I've been working hard for OUCH since I first joined. It hurts me a great deal, still. But it was a matter of ethics and I am a "too honest" person", I've been told. Not trying to reopen what's been done. Just hurting out loud. The balls in my court, Alley? Sweetie, I just left the court. Love to you all and please......work a little harder at finding that cure. Get along and help one another. Guest, Donna H
