This should update every 5 minutes or so. Stay tuned. The camera is pointed S.E. across the Toutle River Valley at approx. 4500 ft. altitude. Around 5 miles from the crater. http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/ The Lava Dome in the crater is shaking constantly now.

It is very cool huh, but I hear we won't have the really big thing like 24 years ago. Still way cool though! I understand the road crews are ready in Portland here for ash. Sure glad it is Helen and not Mt Hood. That one is way closer to us than Helen. I have been all the way up to the top and sights inbetween it is very breath taking. Ruth

must be a lot of traffic to that website... I've yet to be able to see it. I was here (in Calgary, Alberta about 6? hours north) and we got a lot of ash the last time Mt. St. Helens erupted. I hope it doesn't get that bad again though (although...it WAS kinda cool )

| I've only seen Mt Hood from a distance(as well as Mt St Helens) and can only imagine the vistas you've seen. After traveling through 44 of the 48 contigous states, I have always felt that the northern CA, Oregon and Washinton state corridor is some of the most beautiful and awe inspiring country I have ever seen. Although the weather is far from perfect, it must be nice to live in God's country! .............................alley

Just going to bump this. I just know its going to blow live here on the board. I'll be drinking some Rogue Ale at the brewery when it does and be too wiped out to see it though. Hey jonny. You may drink the stuff, but I got my picture on the label. TTFN

I knew it, I just knew it.... I hate those uneasy feelings I get. I'm just hopin it's not too dramatic of an explosion. I hope everyone evacuates out of the area and no one gets hurt.

Wars and rumors of wars.... also they shoudl start seeing the appearance of Jesus in the desserts and the like. Remember, ifyou hear he is supposidly near by, don't go rushing out to see for yourself. He is coming back, but not doing a whirlwind tour.... lol hugs and winks tj

Faux News just said that the volcano watchers USGS said it's going to blow today for sure. If not, it willl blow tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then the next day. For sure. Friggin' idiots.

They dropped another siesmometer into the crater to replace the one the steam eruption destroyed. They also place a new remote camera on the crater rim. Cascade volcanos are always slow working up to an eruption. Usually more explosive than most when they do go though. TTFN
