Bus races ROFLOL (NOT CH)

I went to our local race track (Illiana Speedway) Saturday night with some friends to see the figure 8 bus races, pure stocks, and trailer races.

I love stock car racing but have never been to anything like this.

OMG it was fun. School buses spinning out. One on it's side. All junk and disabled stuff gets left on the track. No flags except for safety.

The pure stock feature was ran with a bus on it's side in turn 1 and several other disabled buses in other areas of the track.

The figure 8 trailer race was an absolute hoot. 2 cars were pulling pop-up campers, 2 were pulling boats, 1 was pulling a snowmobile, and 1 was pulling a trailer loaded with furniture and had a bunch of furniture strapped to the top.

The object of this race is that the last car running who still has any remnant of a trailer attached wins. If you lose your trailer, you can't win but you can still sabatoge other drivers.

Long story short....... I'm still hoarse from all of the laughing, cheering, shouting, etc....... Fun, Fun, Fun

BTW:I now have my wifes permission (Yes, I'm henpecked) to enter my Nissan in the pure stocks when we replace it.

At Bill's race on Saturday, they also had these little cars that after a few laps, would stop and go the other way.
I kept thinking I could take them... with my CIVIC!

Oh, THOSE pictures....
laugh
actually, they must not have been paying their light bills.  It was really dark on the track.
I gave up except for this one that crashed right in front of me...

These were late models.

I'm still kicking my own a$$ for leaving cam-corder at home. I meant to take it and left it on the table when I left.

vig...

One of the races was called the hound and the hare. It was a 25 lap pure stock (4cyl front wheel drive) feature on the figure 8. The leader had the option to turn and go any way he wanted as long as they stayed on the inner track where the figure 8 is. This one was nuts. I'll be trying to get myself into the pure stocks next year.

This track is actually a 1/2 mile track with an inner 1/4 mile that shares a common straigtaway. This inner part is shaped almost like an x. This is where they set uip the pits when they had a 250 lap ASA feature out thre last year.

I might be going back next Saturday for twin 150 laps features of pure stocks and 8cyl enduros. If I do, I'll take the cam-corder and get some shots.

It sounds like it was a complete riot, Pat! Very cool!  Smiley

They had a demolition derby with Jeeps, some years ago. They finally had to call an end to the action because Jeeps are indestructable!  Grin Cool laugh
