Hey everyone - it's been WAY too long...

Hello once more!  It has been such a long time since I have posted (although I have visited and checked-in periodically!).  I hope you are all doing as well as can be expected for us poor bastards!

Well, I have been busy becoming a Floridian.  The job, at Shands at teh University of Florida is pretty intense and I have been on information overload since June 1st. when I started.  The day before that, I herniated a lumbar disc just bending over to take the kitchen trash out.  Needless to say, my beginning at the hospitals, when one should be making thebiggest impression of their lives, was less than auspicious!  It still is bothering me and I have to have an MRI.  They've had me on muscle relaxants, yes, narcotics (Linda H. - yeah, they did help!!) and 6 weeks of PT and no better.  But the worst thing, of course, is that the beast is making irregular appearances at odd hours.  I hve found a new neurologist.  She seems quite capable (and young and HOT! - although young enough to be my daughter, alas) and was going to ut me on lithium again but changed her mind in view of the verapamil becasue she thinks my prevous bad experience on lith was due to the combo with verap.  She gave me a choice of depakote (antiseizure) or elavil (antidepressant) - she said abotu equally successful, only recognized recently, in helping with CH.  She said she would choose elavil in view on my bad experience with topamax (the driving through a spiral feeling), so that's what I'll be on : verapamil 360 mg/day ER, clonodine 0.1 mg. bid, and elavil (don't know the dosage on this yet - she called it in).

Glad to be back and a little bit settled although this sumer has been so hectic...  I bought a rand new house in Gainesville when my middle son was down here with me (he has since gone back to NH saying he was a "New England guy" not a Florida guy), so now I oram 2,00 feet of house alone - saying to myself, "well I haven't been int his room for a wekk...." LOL!!

My best to you all!!!

No way Jim, I worked at SHANDS for years.  I worked for Dr. Sue Ellen Pinkerton on the 10th floor.  Loved working there and still would except I got married and moved to Missouri.

My Dad is a paramedic instructor for Central Florida Community College and lives in Interlachen.  My mom worked for SHANDS in the children's diabetes section for years.

Good to see someone from my home town.
