Police Action? (Long, not CH)

This past Saturday night after dinner with friends, my wife and I returned home, paid the sitter, and settled in for a little TV and then bed. I can't tell you how nice it is, (I'm sure many of you know), to have the kids in bed, mine are one and three, and just have those those two precious hours of peace. Los Angeles, is of course the land of the high speed car chase. You can usually see about two of them a week on the local news.....in between the story about how Botox may kill you, and which celebrity got a DUI the night before. The local news is anything but....anyway, when I heard the choppers around 9:15 I thought , oh well, I hope they wrap this up quick. But they didn't. After around 20 minutes or so, I walked outside to see what the hell was going on. I saw 4 helicopters circling around my house basically, but the wierd thing was, their spotlights weren't on. I remember thinking "how are they going to see anything?" By this time my one year old is screaming in her crib because it sounds like the fall of Saigon outside her bedroom window. My wife is scared to death because there has been reports of a rapist in the area, NOT on the news ironically enough, so I'm locking windows, checking, doors etc. Finally, the noise stops. My wife eventually starts to relax, falling asleep on the couch. My one year old settles down after about 15 minutes of wailing. I flip on the Tivo to see what I've recorded. All of a sudden at 10:45 pm I hear cars RACING down my street. Now I live on a one block cul-de-sac that's about 250 yards long, and I wanna tell you these cars were fuckin flying. I ran out my front door expecting to see cop cars without their sirens on, but no, it was SUV's....at least 10 of them, along with some regular cars. They come SCREECHING to a halt about 4 doors down from me and I'm thinking, what, is this the Governor at a party or something? Then I notice people all of a sudden running by me on foot carrying cameras, at least 20-30 of them. I finally grab one and say "hey man, what the hell is happenning?" You know what he says? "Brittany Spears is getting married on the street behind you and we she's going to try and leave through the back door and cut through your yard." "Are you fucking kidding me, I said, All this for that!" He says "Yeah dude, the pic's could be worth Thousands!" I told him to get hell off my lawn or I'd crack his camera over his head. They finally left the area about an hour later, but I couldn't help but think of all the people who had been chased by the Paparazzi in their life....Princess Di to name one. These people could've cared less about anybody but themselves. If one of my neighbors, or God forbid, their children had stepped into the street there would have been no way to stop. Sorry so long, just thought it was an interesting tale. By the way, I've never liked B. Spears. I remember the first time I saw her years ago, portraying that wholesome, girl next door image, and thinking..."if that girl's a virgin, I'll knit you a watch.

| She's probably a virgin again. If you have a chance, break the camera next time. Charlie

Rig trip-wires. About three inches off the ground, stretched moderately tight.... It'll go something like this: *run run run run TRIP WHOMP!!!!!* "OW!!!! SONOFABITCH, my KNEE!!!" "Shut up! Get up! We've gotta get this photo!" "The camera's busted now. Forget it..." "Gosh, I guess we shouldn't have been running around like retarded a$$holes in the dark, tramping through peoples' yards and making a nuisance of ourselves, huh?" "...... BWAHAHAHAHA!! NOT!!! We are the PRESS!! We have more rights than ANYONE!!" *sound of shucking shotgun breech* "You have three seconds to get the fuck off of my land and two of those seconds are now gone." "RUN AWAY!! RUN AWAY!!" *TRIP!* "OOF!!" "RUN RUN!!"

The weirdest thing about the whole event is that we don't live in a hoity-toity development. It's just very average, and very suburban.
