I think I just understood reasons for the death penalty now. I would gladly fry that terrorist, personally.

Were these other 300 deaths less grisly? Death is death, and no matter how you cut it, it's very COLD in the end.
I sure hope that one of these days we can use our opposable thumb for something other than killing. Humanity, in all it's glory, continues to prove itself to be little more than a virus with shoes.....and it all seems to depend on which side of the field you were born upon. Not to mention the local God de Jour. Sheesh.......
Stay home. Be good to each other. Don't go to Iraq......unless you like a really wacked out life style, or you HAVE to.

I would love to see Richard Bandler create a 50ft purple Allah that tells them to smarten up...Perhaps a 50ft Allah would scare the crap out of them enough to make them see another way...
The tragedy of the actual murder is only half the story, it's the public display and the fact they understand enough about human nature to know that even though we find it repulsive and gory and horrifying the general populace can't make themselves stop watching it. It's that insight into the human psyche that scares me more than anything, it's what they are able to use and manipulate as the primary basis for 'terrorism'. If no one watches it, no one can be terrorized by it, they have no power over other's and their fear. I somehow doubt we can change human nature though.

Like Bill Maher says...over here we like our religious leaders. They're good entertainment but we don't pay a lot of attention to them. Some of them we know are nuts. We are PITAs too but we need not beat ourselves up all the time.
Some things really are better over here:
rule of law: better
free speech: better
free press: better
equal rights for women: better
religious tolerance: better
