I can’t stop watching the river.  I live right on the Susquehanna in PA, and to watch the river grow and swell the way it has over the last few days reminds me of what a small impact I make in life.  I watch as it takes trees, lawn furniture, dog houses, and yes, a bed, down to the mouth of the Chesapeake.  I sit and wonder, where is the dog whose house is gone, where is the person who was sleeping in that bed now laying their head?  I’m grateful to be safe and living on high ground.  I’ve watched people pull stuff up & tie it off in an attempt to save it from the flooding waters. And I wonder, what is happening to all those people living through this storm and it’s aftermath.  We’ve been lucky …… but what about the rest?

Just a thought or two.  I think I might be a little meloncholy today.

Well, maybe you could send some vibes up the river.  I'll send you some too.  It's too beautiful to be sad today.
Keep your head up.

Awww Nancy,

I remember driving along the river all those times on the way to and from Penn State.  Beautiful.  I miss central Pennsylvania, and I honestly never thought that I would.

It is 55 degrees today here in Philly.  It is sunny out, and it looks beautiful, but I miss the beauty of nature!  I take a lot of walks down to Penn's Landing because being at the water front reminds me of nature somewhat!

I love this weather though.  Woke up at 3am or so this morning, and it was freezing in the living room!  I turned off the air conditioning.  This morning when I finally woke up at 9am, I grabbed my blanket and a bowl of hot oatmeal, and I've been watching a movie on the couch.

Something about fall brings peace to me.  I love the cool, crisp air.  Everything about fall makes me feel calm.  I dont' like summer, so I hope that fall is finally here. Smiley

Remember to let me know if you are ever coming back to this neck of the woods!

And feeling small in the grand scheme of things with such things happening in the world I have to say you arent the first person that has said that to me lately... It is quite humbling to see what God and Mother Nature can actually do... God bless your thoughts today...Im sad today too... love to you Ree

Awwwwwwwww, thanks guys.  It's hard watching people tie stuff down and try and hold on to what they can.  We have grown wise over the years and keep everything light enough to tote up quickly.  The people 3 doors down lost a great skateboarding ramp their dad built with love.  The damn thing was about 30 feet long and 10 feet wide (and about 60 feet from the river bank)......... see ya later, said the river.

The sun is shining here today and the skies are blue.  No forcast for rain.  All in all, a good day ........ just makes ya think.

this is the first weekend since a while that I have not had to worry about a hurricane.    the day is beautiful, and even though all my trees are broken,  I love my neighborhood even more than before.   Just a reminder that there are clear skies waiting for you after  this mess.   Smiley

We had brunch at the Hilton, then went out to the Market Street bridge.  It is closed to traffic, so we walked across to City Island.

Wow... the parking lots (& the entire island, for that matter) are under 6+ feet of water.  The docks are mostly submerged (make those mooring lines a few feet longer, guys).

In Harrisburg, going over that bridge near the train station (on 4th street... whatever the bridge is called), there is about 3 feet of water in that low part of the city.

Amazing the shit that is coming down the Susquehanna... trees, barrels, furnishings, and, very notably, peoples supplies of firewood.

Nature's pretty unforgiving that way, eh, Nanc? Don't know where said person(s) are right now, but they all sure as hell didn't pay attention that day in 5th grade when the teacher was going over the concept of "Flood Plains." Must be a reason why they say life is an _uphill_ struggle.

I took a walk earlier down to Penn's Landing.  I95 was covered in water down by the waterfront!  And then, the river level was really really high.  Much higher than I'd ever seen before!  I didn't realize it had rained quite that much down here, but then...yesterday I was doing a 12 hour nursing shift!
