River Of Consciousness
Wide River of Consciousness, flowing out of
black granite mountains, thirteen miles deep,
sullen and dark, winding your way through the
unseen, mirroring the stars and celestial
clockworks of the universe.
Dark waters of amnesia carry us down to your
inky depths, draping silk-silty sleep and cool
raiment of algae over our weary eyes, soothing
the furrows of tears and sorrow-tinged joy
from our placid faces.
Wide River of Consciousness, wind and bend
to places intoxicated and delirious with the
heady passion of the living.
Slam in whitewater torrent over stoic boulders
to spill and spread through the floodplain like
new silver, to press these soulseeds deep into
fertile mud, before returning to the sea with
your pregnant harvest of dreams.
