Well, here it is, just short of two weeks later and slowly getting back to normal. Two weeks ago we still had power and phones. Our daughter and grandson were here to ride out the storm but our son and dil went back to their apartment to be with their 3 cats plus a sick one that the dil's son and girlfriend were going to abandon to die. Our daughters 4 cats and 2 tarantulas were brought here to join our 3 cats for the party. The wind started really picking up Sat. morning and at 10 AM the power went. The phones still worked and we got regular updates from Judy's sister in Pittsburgh. We found out the storm was just east of us and sitting there. Later we got a call from our son who saud the roofs were starting to go from the apartments and later, despite being on the first floor of a two story building, the ceilings were starting to drip. Well, the wind blew like hell from the north most of the day and night and early Sunday it got very quiet. All was calm for about an hour and then wham! It came back from the south with a vengence. Later Sunday my son and dil showed up; their apartment was totoled and uninhabitable. So now we have 11 cats, 2 tarantulas, 5 adults and a 14 yearold. No power, no phone and no running water. Daughter and dil ended up having a shouting match, dil stormed out of the house and promptly slipped on the six inches of leaves on the porch. Much screaming and nast pride injury but, luckily, nothing else. I thought another war would start when dil announced that the downstairs bed room was hers because she had to keep her cats there. No matter that daughter had been staying. (dil's cats are "special" ) Fortunatly, daughter took a deep breath. Tuesday, I took the sick cat to our vet and $261.00 later found that the cat was suffering from neglect. Friday the phones came back and we had communication with concerned relatives, son and dil had found another apartment and daughter was actively looking. She moved into a condo Sunday and took Judy with her to get her out of the heat. Late Monday we had power here and got things running. The first thing I did was flush both toilets... several times just to watch the water go down. I haven't checked the want ads yet but I'll bet there are more than just a few slightly used generators for sale. Just another day in paradise. Kip
