Hi guys! I did some radical changes with my diet two months ago and now I am enjoying the pain-free results! Here's what I have done: Breakfast: lots of fresh fruits (had 2 apples, 4 plums and banana today) Snack: more fruit Lunch: Salad with meat (chicken/ham), fish or two boiled eggs and/or plate of warm vegetables Snack: vegetables or nuts (my fave is almonds, but recall, whatever nuts you use, no salt!) Dinner: warm vegetables with sauce of your choice and two pieces of rye bread with cucumber or pasta with sauce of your choice (but I never combine meat and pasta) and warm vegetables snack: yogurt (250g) And all I drink is water! Lots of it. NO soft drinks, folks! No coffee, tea and alcohol with this diet. Another allowed drinks are fresh squeesed fruitjuice and milk. And make that fat free. This diet has worked wonders with my body, I can tell ya that. I lost all my overweight in 65 days without trying, my skin is softer and the best part is that CH has left me ALONE for the first time since October 2003! Try it, you can lose only weight and CH. Best wishes, sandie99 p.s. no medical expert has looked at the diet and it is loosely based on Fitonics, those who have heard about that. Basically, it is a result of me trying desperatily to live more healthier life and get rid of the devil. I can recommed it to everyone. Sorry if I am too excited about it, it just has worked wonders with me!!!

Unfortunately this will only work once and another stress will have to be done next time. Severe diet changes done every cycle may be great for all episodic. As for losing weight my DR would not be too happy. Cutting down salt and drinking lots of water both reduce excess body fluid which are great to help reduce CH. Those alone should be done when ever possible. I bet everything else could be dropped with the same result. I am glade the diet worked for you, Being chronic I have found many things that resulted in lower CH pain but they always stopped working after a few months. I hope your PF time lasts forever. Glad to hear you are better off, Sandie! Here is some interesting info on yogurt - it reduces allergic reactions. Not sure that this helps with CH, but it could. IgE antibodies are elevated in the painful periods of CH, and (in separate research) are sometimes reduced by yogurt. Also good for the cholesterol in older people. Quote:J Nutr. 1999 Jul;129(7 Suppl):1492S-5S. The influence of chronic yogurt consumption on immunity. Van de Water J, Keen CL, Gershwin ME. Department of Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Department of Nutrition, University of California, Davis, Davis, CA 95616, USA. There has been increased interest in the study of nutrition and immunity. This is especially true with respect to the hypothesis that consumption of specific foods may reduce an individual's susceptibility to the establishment and/or progression of immunologic disease. Although an increased intake of a specific food may improve health status in select cases, chronic consumption of large amounts of one specific food may in fact be detrimental. The studies described here examined the long-term effect of yogurt consumption on two different age populations, young adults (20-40 y) and senior adults (55-70 y). There were three study groups per age group, live-culture yogurt, pasteurized yogurt and control (no yogurt), given 200 g/d of yogurt for 1 y. The subjects completed a questionnaire detailing health parameters on a weekly basis and a 4-d food record was taken monthly. Blood was taken every 3 mo and complete blood chemistry, blood count, total and specific immunoglobulin (Ig)E, and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) production measured. Yogurt consumption, especially for the live-culture groups, was associated with a decrease in allergic symptoms in both age groups. Seniors in the control group experienced an increase in both total and LDL cholesterol, whereas those in the yogurt groups remained stable during the course of the study. There was little effect on IFN-gamma and IgE production, although seniors in the yogurt group had lower levels of total IgE throughout the year. |

I try to get yogurt in me twice a week... I loosely used Covert Bailey's Fit or Fat. Regardless of CH, it made me healthier and in better shape to fight CH.

I was eating exactly like that when my cluster headaches started for the first time and they lasted non stop for 6 long years. My dr thought it was the diet that triggered it to start and had me go off the diet. It diddn't make a difference what I ate. I still had ch. Your lucky you have found something to work for you this time but it may not work again. The beast quickly figures things out.
