Do any of you know where I can find the unit price of a drug online? I'd like to know the price that GSK says Amerge is per tablet. I'm getting a runaround from Aetna and the drug store, so I need to know how much this drug costs at baseline!!! If I call the drugstore, it does me know good because thtey will give me THEIR price..not the unit price. Any ideas?? Thanks! L2

Thanks!! I didn't understand that either, though. LOL After much searching, I just found the info. One box (9 tabs) of 2.5 mg of Amerge costs $187.19 as the price is set from GSK. This does not explain how 2 boxes cost me either $332 through Aetna or $434 through Eckerd. Damn. Ah well...more searching around to do! And maybe while I'm at it, I need to consult a lawyer LOL I think this mess is getting more complicated than I know what to do with!

Not sure if the pharaceutical industry has a special exemption, but I think it is illegal for the manufacturer to establish a price and enforce it. They can set a MSRP, but that is only a suggestion. If they do anything beyond that, it is price-fixing, which isn't good form.

Lizzie, Sorry to hear your insurance sucks !!! Don't know about on-line prescriptions. I can't believe they only discount 2 bx's of Amerge by $42.00. Last box I bought out-of-pocket at Walgreens was $175.00. That was in January. It's not much, but sounds cheaper than Eckerd anyway. Hope you manage to get better insurance. You'd think going through a med school that there would be something better available for you all. Good luck to you. Sure hope you find something cheaper.

I know this is in some ways irrelevant to you in the US, but comparisons might be interesting. These are the prices the NHS is charged, and we pay a flat fee for each item on the prescription of around £6.50. (If we use a lot, we normally buy a four-month exemption on all charges for just over £40 - bet you're jealous!) Naratriptan - £26.40 for 6 tabs Maxalt - £26.74 for 6 tabs or wafers Zomig - £24.00 for 6 tabs Imigran - £29.70 for 6 tabs; £45.21 for 2 jab refills. Guess multiplying by about 1.4 will convert to dollars. Dolly
