I been pain frre a long time now and got a cold in Nashville at the convention turned into pneumonia. Triggered my clusters. They have me on some really strong meds They have me on Methylprednisolone 120 MG ,Tri Vent HC syr, Benzonatate 100 MG, Biaxin XL 500 Mg and my Lipitor 20 MG. 16 pills a day for 20 days plus my night time med for rest. I took all that stuff yesterday and last night I slept all night with out getting hit. I am not sure if any of those meds helped or if I just got lucky !

I think prednisolone is prednisone.....not sure what the "methyl " means but i'm guessing it's the Pred keeping you PF. K

I would say the flu does for me. In late 12/2003 I experienced the worst flu I ever had. In early 01/2004, about a week later, I started my worst episode ever. That said, January is also when my episodes normally fire up.

Sorry you have a cold Elaine. Hope they caught all the pneumonia and you feel better soon. I don't get a cold very often, but when I do, I've never had a cycle start because of a cold.

Hey Elaine. Feel better soon. I do get more ha's when i'm having a cold in my nose. (and yeah, some jackass did nose surgery on me 7 years ago) My septum is no longer deviated but I still have clusters!!! He thought getting rid of the nasal pollups would do the trick!!! No dice. I'm with Ronnie though, I quit smoking in 1999 for 10 months and was headache free after the first couple months and remained ha free until I began smoking again. Until then I had never had ANY relief, I was chronic and usually two bad attacks everyday. During that 10 months I even had a few beers!!! After going back to cigs, the ha's are back and I don't drink anymore. I'm working on the smoking thing again. Wish me luck!!

| Boy, howdy! Do I ever know what you mean! Jeepgun's my hero of the hour! That said, I really don't know one way or another whether colds affect my CH. I don't get very many colds and being chronic, I probably wouldn't be able to tell anyway. .....................................alley

Elaine, here's what happened to me recently: Got a sinus infection. When I get a sinus infection, my sleep quality becomes very poor. My sinus infections bother me so much that sometimes I sleep sitting up in a chair so I can breathe. So, first really bad sinus night, I only got 2 or 3 hours of sleep. That screwed up my CH really bad. Got clobbered for the next 3 days... every 8 hours, really really bad ones like clockwork breaking through the verapamil... nothing could stop them. After a few days, more sleep = less CH. So, when I get a sinus infection, I know I'm gonna be screwed with bad CH. Maybe it's because of the infection, but for me, I think the messed up sleep is more important. Everybody thinks I'm crazy because when I hear 'John Doe has a cold' a look of terror comes across my face. --- Steve

I hear you Steve. I tell you I woke up screaming the other night, It was so bad. I am so hoping that this med I am on will help stop them I think kissmyglass was right prednisone. I also hope it helps my lungs I hate these damn clusters expecially after pain free times it like you kind of forget what to do when they hit.
