My Doc prescribed me Seroquel 100mgs to start out, and then gradually step up to 200mg. I am wondering if this stuff isn't adding to/ causing more panic attacks. It seems like the last couple of nights shortly after I take it, I go into a bad panic attack and think my heart is gonna burst. I'm also wondering if lack of sleep can add to/ cause panic attacks, or if panic attacks can cause lack of sleep. Since last monday the 23rd, I have had a whopping total of 8 hours sleep, and am getting the sharp pains in my side again, and hallucinating. I have been shaking and nervous all morning, and am almost afraid to fall alseep now for fear I won't wake up. Insomnia sucks! Panic and Anxiety attacks suck! Clusters suck!!!!!!!! Peace, Carl D

Seroquel is an antipsychotic medication. I've never used it and I don't believe it is a treatment for CH as an abortive or a preventative. Insomnia sucks (I KNOW). CH Sucks 2 !! Hang in there Carl PF Wishes, Unsolved

Carl....thought maybe you should read this. What's yer doc tryin to treat you for anyway....depression or bipolar ? Anyhow....pay attention to side effects and meds you are takeing.....some people continue to take a med prescribed no matter what as if they think they have to.....don't over amp of course and THINK you have all the side effects (I 'am' the sid effects queen but I give stuff a benifiet of a doubt first)...some side effects will go away in time as with alot of stuff. But pay attention to any bad things goin on and either recognize it as a side effect and HOPE it goes away or CALL YER DOC about it. Be careful and HOPE you begin to fell better soon bud !!! Too bad ya don't live closer......Brad always needs help around here....he'd put ya to work and you wouldn't have TIME to feel lousey.....hee-hee.....keepin busy I feel is also great theropy for 'some' things or depression. Lack of sleep will really make ya flakey and strange "TRUST ME I KNOW".....jus went thru a week long session of it myself. It really caught up with me "bad".......but fineally got a bit more sleep to feel bit more normal by doubleing my sleep med does for two nites then BACK to normal dose of half pill. Where there's a will there's a way Pam SEROQUEL is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia and the short-term treatment of acute manic episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (in adults over the age of eighteen). Patients should be periodically reassessed to determine the need for continued treatment. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are two different mental disorders that affect millions of people in the United States. The navigation buttons above will enable you to find information about these illnesses, as well as information about the medication SEROQUEL. SEROQUEL is a psychotropic medication shown to be effective in the treatment of many symptoms of schizophrenia, as well as mania associated with bipolar disorder. Important Information Prescribing should be consistent with the need to minimize the risk of tardive dyskinesia, seizures, and orthostatic hypotension. A rare condition referred to as neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) has been reported with this class of medications, including SEROQUEL. There have been reports of diabetes mellitus and hyperglycemia related adverse events associated with the use of atypical antipsychotics, including SEROQUEL. Click here to read AstraZeneca’s letter to Health Care Providers. The most commonly observed adverse events associated with the use of SEROQUEL in clinical trials for either schizophrenia or as monotherapy in bipolar mania were somnolence (18%), dizziness (11%), dry mouth (9%), constipation (8%), SGPT increase (5%), dyspepsia (5%), and weight gain (5%). The most commonly observed adverse events associated with the use of SEROQUEL in clinical trials as adjunct therapy with lithium or divalproex in bipolar mania were somnolence (34%), dry mouth (19%), constipation (10%), asthenia (10%), abdominal pain (7%), postural hypotension (7%), pharyngitis (6%), and weight gain (6%). Got this off there web site.......hope it helps !?

Carl I have not been on that antiphycotic but have been on three different ones (risperdol, geodon, and ablify) for my schizophrenia. I have read reports that zyprexa has had sucess in chronic cluster headache patients and my neuro at the ha clinic actually wanted me to try it but since I was already on an antiphycotic we didn't want to switch and mess with things. I know that ablify in particular can cause increased anxiety attacks and insomnia. So I don't think your crazy there may be a relation there between the anxiety attacks and your medicine. I would talk to your pharmacist and see what they have to say about it and then if you need to stay on the antiphycotic talk to your dr about prescribing you some meds for anxiety. I take xanax. Good luck and hope I helped some.

Hey Carl, This is Bob Bowling's wife, Kathleen. I also took seroquil to help me sleep. But under your circumstances, I would get off of it. The panic attacks are not worth taking the drug. Until you have suffered panic attacks, like cluster headaches, its hard to understand. You're not getting the additional sleep you really need and the additional panic attacks are not worth it. Panic attacks are awful, you feel like you're having a heart attack. That's not good. I advise you to discontinue. Have you tried trytophen? It's most commonly found in foods like milk. You can get it at a health food store or try taking 2-3 tylenol pm with a full glass of milk (or 2 glasses). It sure helped me. If you can get a doctor to prescribed it, I found that Klonopin is wonderful for getting to sleep. It was prescribed to me when I complained that I coulldn't sleep because of the anti-depressants I was on during the day. Like lithium, zoloft or any other antii-depressant, your body reacts to the somewhat high that it gives you during the day but then you need something to bring you down so you can sleep. Its a vicious cycle but when one medication helps, sometimes you need another to help. You know what I mean. Anyway, Klonopin is wonderful and it doesn't give you side effects or a hangover effect the next day. I would certainly get off the seroquil. Panic attacks are not worth it. Perhaps tonight, try 2-3 tylenol pm with 2-3 glasses of milk (trytophen). Sorry you feel so exhausted. I'll say a prayer that someone will help you soon. I hope I have helped in some small way and that the solution to your insomnia is just around the corner. Sincerely, Kathleen

My doc wanted me to try Cybalta ?? He said it is for anxiety, and depression with muscle pain esp back pain ! I mentiond this before on here......not familiar with it at all and researched it and didn't read much about the pain part but think it may HELP people that have alot of pain and depression caused by it or anxiety. Read it is relatively new as far as prescribed for anxiety ect.....I don't take any antidepressants. I fineally realized they caused more bullshit....next thing ya know yer takein this to counteract to that and feelin like crap, tired......and no ambition to do nothin...which doesn't help depression "one bit".....since ya don't feel like doin nothin or goin anywhere ya have worse panic attacks when ya do. So......I realized the stuff was makein new problems or old ones worse !! Not to mention weight gain and no emotions. Maybe figure out what yer REAL problems are and try to treat them directly ONLY. There's meds for fibro (or chronic fatigue my doc calls it) flareups and spasm's ect. I don't think alot of meds SHOULD be mixed esp if bein treated for depression and pain together. Skelaxin isn't supposed to be used with pain meds and can increase symtoms of each when combined.....WTF. So read up onmeds and go to your doc next visit prepared !!! I do that and make myself notes.....cuz soon as he walks in my room I go BLANK !!!! Hope ya get the rite combo to help ya soon.......pain impulsive Pam

| Carl, I've discussed this with Pam as the ex BF/Mechanic asked me to do. Seroquel is used to litterally knock you out and help you to sleep, however they do have to slowly up the dose to prevent any adverce effects, as taking an antipsychotic without actually having the on lable condition for prolonged periods at high doses can do some damage. It's been known to knock folks out to break a refractive migraine. It cannot be used in conjunction with Verapamil or Litium, but stand alone, it can help with the insomnia, and I'm guessing that is what your doc is trying to do since you can't/don't take other prevents? She said it's been tried and ineffective tyo abort a cluster cycle, but is a good heavy duty sleep aid and is used alot for others with chronic pain to help them sleep.

Yeah, he gave it to me for the insomnia, but so far it's not doing jackshit except making me have panic attacks so bad I feel like my heart is about to burst. I've had a combined total of 10 hours sleep since LAST Monday, with no end in sight - except alot of funky chest pains I am just attributing to the lack of sleep and panic disorder. I fricken HATE this. Cya in a day or two (hopefully), Carl D
