Sharp, sudden piercing stab pains in the mid-right torso. Is that the liver saying thanks for all the medicine? Peace, Carl D

Well Carl. Here's hoping it was a one in a time thing. Mid right torso can also mean gallbladder or appendix. In those cases the pain tends to stick around though. This braindamaged mob will likely have some better answers. Hang in Carl. Charlie

Lower right torso would be your appendix. Mid right or upper right could mean liver/gall bladder. If it doesn't go away, you night want to get it checked. Hope your getting some relief. John

An appendix going south can feel like a stomach ache for a couple of days. Then it suddenly moves to the right. At that point you're in trouuble. Have it checked now. otherwise you'll have to hail a cab at 3am to take your to the hospital. I think there is some kind of law that says medical emergencies can only happen at 3am on Sunday mornings.

If it gets any worse or more persistent, I'll wind up taking a trip to the ER. It feels like it is just under the ribcage, right below the last rib. After being on all the meds over the years, especially shit like Ultram and Vicodin, I wouldn't be surprised if the liver is freaking out, or gall bladder. I think if it were the appendix it would be lower, but I could be wrong. Peace, Carl D

Charlie, you're funny. Did the gall bladder thing, have the scar to prove it. It happened about 11 PM on a sunday night. It hurt bad, just when you didn't think it could get worse it would. I was doubled over in pain. Good luck Carl, hope things work out for you. Tim

Irritabel bowel (IBS) attacks do that......used to think it was my gall bladder and had an ultrasound (insurence refused to pay after doc said it would cover it....opps) and everything was ok. It was IBS......rite under that rib like ya said too......I used to pull on it it hurt so bad with those pains and bruise my side doin it. A large percentage of the world has it believe it or not....but not all attacks are the same. I HAD to watch my diet......it can come and go.....stress and meds seem to effect it or bring on flare ups suddenly. Mine'd get so bad I'd end up with a fever and shake/sweat and peuk !! But.....either way ya need to take care of it......I got a med that desolves under my tongue for attacks that works really good. Glutten for pain Pam

Jus don't leave em in yer pocket if ya mite get damp or wet.......they disolve and leave a white power spot. People think ya got cocaine leakin outa yer pocket. Sheesh.....jus smile and walk away Pam

LMAO Pam! I haven't actually had them in several years now. My serious battles with IBS ended when I went to Penn State. Occasional flare-ups from time to time now but nothing like it used to be...deeyam it was like clusters to the gut...I used to get those attacks so many times a day! Driving in a car was bad cuz if you hit a bump...ahhh the pain! I remember 2 instances that were the worst. One morning in my bio class I had to give a presentation on cystic fibrosis (so I was prolly nervous) and the attack hit. I dont' even remember what I said. My mom wound up having to pick me up from school cuz I was so sick I couldn't move out of doubled-over by the time I got to my next class! But the worst was sometime we were down in Florida for one of my brother's soccer tournaments. My uncle had given us so much egg-nog...didn't realize I couldn't have milk then lol. It was very cold and rainy at the soccer game. First I got the pain and then the vomiting. I couldn't stand anyone touching me...don't you think it sets your nerves on edge? My grandma grabbed my wrist and I flipped out. My mom took me to the car, and she laid a raincoat down on the pavement and I just balled up on the ground in the rain until it finally stopped hurting. Sad sight for sure!! When my doc finally gave me those pills...that was a great blessing! They used to kill an attack for me in about 15 minutes. LOL back to our regularly scheduled programming

I agree with the others, it could be the meds or your gall bladder. Had mine out a few years ago. Still didn't stop the pain which was intense. Had my ercp snipped a few weeks later and this didn't work either. Pain still bothers me but only under extreme stress now. When you deal with chronic and daily pain, your whole system is thrown off! I'd get it checked out! Good luck.

Maybe you have IBS too mystorm.....ha-ha.......well it's a thought !! Large percentage of people got it and don't know WHAT it is......guy at Brad's shop had every test available includeing ultra sounds and exrays and they found NOTHING (cost sum bucks for all that too).......duh........IBS !! Simple as that Pam Yeah don't get me wrong.....this kinda stuff SHOULD be checked out........but it's never easy and never cheap.....seems they take the long way to find out it is somethin simple.

I had my gallbladder removed a couple of months ago. If it is right under the rib cage that sounds like it is it. Don't be suprised if they do an ultrasound to see if any stones are blocking any ducts. If they are you have an emergency on your hands. If not, then don't be surprised if they don't just tell you to eat bland modified diet like lots of fish and chicken breast. I modified my diet and was still in severe pain. After 3 trips to the ER and getting shots of pain meds they had me meet with a surgeon. 2 months latter I finaly found relief after I had it removed. Good luck and get it checked into asap. It could be serious.

I am gonna call my Doc about it tomorrow, but after reading Coots responses, I think it prolly is IBS - since the Tramadol makes it very hard to piss (have to strain to get it out - wooo hoooo!) and also makes me so constipated I feel like I am shitting bricks! Gonna try some Milk of Magnesia tomorrow and see if that clears it up any. If not, then I'll definitely get it checked out soon. Still not sleeping - dammit! Carl

I recently got over my second episode of clusters, shortly after that I got the same pain...it happened after my first episode also. I think it's related some how. I got my appendix checked out...had a 't-cell' count done to check the liver. After a while it just went away. I was gettin used to not getting things diagnosed so I just let it go. ~Jake
