I had one of those kinds of hostas. For some reason, tossing an M-80 near that hosta seemed to cause the nice dog-shaped bloom to swiftly re-locate, and I haven't seen one since. I'm so sad...  laugh

My organic gardening tip of the day:
 
Plant full beer cans around the hosta plants.  Slugs will be attracted to the beer and not the hosta plants.  
 
 Hell, I'd drink a beer rather than eat a hosta.
