Hey chronics... do you 'cycle within cycle'?

I've been chronic since 02/98, but sometimes I don't get hit so often, like right now it is mostly at night or when I try to sleep. Then there are the times when I am getting hit left and right and there seems to be little time of relief. I was just wondering if any other chronics are like this. It seems like the beast is starting to invade my daytime now too. Just got hit about 11am after being awake since 5am when the last hit woke me up. I said fuckit today and am using the Trex again, since it is my only combative against the CH's, regardless the side effects and/or consequences. I'd rather die than sit and ride these fuckers out day into night. When I go back to my Doc, I am going to try and get Zomig NS and see if it gives me the same side effects as the Trex. Guess it makes sense that I'm starting to get slammed again, since fall is right around the corner. So is my anniversary with the beast. Started with 'eyeaches' in September of 1987 when I was 17. After that first cycle of a few weeks, the next cycles got increasingly worse as time went on - each time thinking they can't get any worse than this; only to be proven wrong with the next cycle. How about you other chronics. Do you 'cycle within cycle'? The thought crushed my mind after seeing Don's post. Peace, Carl D

Marc definately has cycles within cycles. He will have a "good" couple of months where he will only get hit with kip7-8 about twice a day and then he will get a couple of months where he gets KIP10's up to 5 times a day! We havn't noticed any regularity to the cycles within cycles - in the last month he has a good day followed by a few bad days then good days again! Hope this is of some help luv sarah and marc xx

Yep - very much so. At the moment down to two a week or so (Lithium and verap by the ton doing their bit), but early April three per day or more, some unresponsive to Imigran. Always been up and down like this, whether medicated or not, but no "triggers" other than the dreaded alcohol. Glad to see you hanging around more these days Carl - I well remember the time you had in ch.com's infancy! S

Yes. But I tend to think of it more as a sine wave. Where the lows are 2 a day and the high point of the wave is 8 a day. Atleast thats the way it looked to me when I graphed it out. YMMV.

Absolutely... 4 x 2-month-long seasonal cycles per year with a month of 2/week in-between each. until the psilocybin appeared....

'cycles within cycles'........absolutely ! This has been the case since Blake went chronic years ago. We refer to them as 'high cycles' and 'low cycles'. Verapamil, Lithium and Topamax holds him in 'low cycle' most of the time now. Jacks

Definately there is. In fact, at convention, Dr. Volcy (sp) had subsets for this in his presentation. I've been chronic for 12 years, "low cycle" as I've heard mentioned in this thread, with this spring bringing the addition of what Volcy called "Marked" episodes. the 8-14 week long hell episodics experience, only to go back to the low cycle. More often than before I went into that marked cycle, now, I guess the beast mutated on me but good. I don't remember if he said it's 7% or 12% but it wasw one of the two. Still very rare when you consider how rare our plight is to begin with....

Dave most definitely does. His chronicness brings him 5-8 attacks per day, every day, with no letup whatsoever since he became chronic with his cycle starting in Jan. 01. Prior to that, he had his "episode" from Jan to late March, mid April and the rest of the year free. Now... January brings on an escalation to 15-20 per day, almost unremitting shadows between attacks, and then again around September same thing for about 4-6 weeks. So we are very excited (NOT) with all that he is going through otherwise to be anticipating this fall cycle escalation. I just hope God can find him a few more ounces of strength to endure with this year. Annette
