The Woman In The Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
and the world holds you Queen for a day,
Just go the mirror and look at yourself
and see what the woman has to say.
For it isn't your mother or friend or lover
whose judgment you have to pass.
The persons whose verdict counts the most
is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people might think you're a straight talking girl
and upon you they tend to rely,
But the person in the mirror knows the truth...
and to her you cannot lie.
She's the one to please, never mind the rest
for she's with you clear to the end,
And you know you've passed your most dangerous test
if the girl in the mirror is your friend.
You may fool the world down the path way of years
and get pats on your back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
if you've cheated the girl in the glass.
