As you know, my insomnia has been terrible the last few weeks. The Doc the other day added Seroquel 100mg to my nightly meds.
Well, last night took all of my meds and STILL couldn't sleep. I stayed up for a bit working on puter stuff. I laid down about 7am this morning (again, 4th try for the night.) I got up shortly after with a massive panic attack! I thought I was either having a heart attack or my heart would soon explode...I calmed down from it after an hour or so, and when I relaxed again, started having heart palpitations something fierce. My heart just kept skipping beats. After I started feeling pressure in my chest, I decided it was time to go to the ER.
They put me on a heart monitor, did an ekg, gave me a shot of something and a soltab of Ativan under the tongue. They ran some bloodwork and was going to admit me. After being on the heart monitor for about 4 hours, the blood tests came back okay. They held me a little while longer for observation before sending me home. They gave me a script for the Ativan to try and combat the panic disorder.
Now the bad news. I was told by the ER doc to stop taking Imitrex until I see my doc again. I told him that it is the only thing that works against the CH's, but he said it looks like it is working against my body.
This is scaring me. I have had no abortives from 2/98 until 08/2003 when I discovered the Trex was working for me - when all previous attempts at it had failed. Now that I finally have some of my life back and have an abortive, now I am being told I may not be able to use Imitrex. 
This evening a new dilemma hits: My TV went out! I can't really complain too bad cause the thing is over 20 years old (with hi-tech features such as dials and knobs.) Right now I am missing SNL - which is my Saturday ritual, grrrrrrrr. Since I basically go nowhere or do anything anymore since I quit the band, spend most of my time here alone (well, not totally alone... I have you guys here.) This sucks not being able to watch anything. So, instead of getting a cellphone in the next couple of months like I had hoped for (sucks with no phone when you need to call 911.) ihave to start saving for a new TV now. With my income - I figure I'll have my new TV around winter of 2006! 
Sorry to vent, but I feel miserable, tired, my legs hurt and throb, shadowing very hard, and coming down with a chest cold. I am totally zapped of energy and very weak right now. I'm almost scared to give myself a shot of Trex now until I see my Doc. But you know how it is...I'll probably take the chance, since I don't deal with the pain too well. Just took my sleep meds and hope to get some kind of sleep tonight. Wish me luck. I just HOPE and pray that the beast will be merciful on me tonight, as I am whiped out.

Just kidding! Seriously though, the ER doc didn't say anything about the Seroquel? My first thought was the combination of the Seroquel and Imitrex had caused your heart to act up.
I've said it before and I'll say it again- Seems like the ones that need a break the most are the last ones to get one.

Good luck, Carl! If you get leapt on in the night and want to avoid the Imitrex, keep in mind it WILL pass... and you must have a bag o' tricks stored up after these years to draw upon. (I know, things rapidly degrade once the pain becomes the center of the universe... you might have to send alley that trex overnight!  ).

sorry to hear your having a rough time. If your new sleeper doesnt work ask your doc to try chloral hydrate 500mg. most people only require a dose at night to work but it can be taken up to 3 times a day. Its and oldie but a goodie. we use it alot on patients with brain tumors who cant sleep. good luck. krista

Carl so sorry you had to go to ER. I hate anxiety attacks. I take xanax for it but still a couple of times have had to go to ER because it feels like I am dying. My bp is usually like 190/100 or 200/110. Not good. They give me morphine for the pain and and antianxiety med and things go back to normal within a couple of hours. It sucks! I will pray for you. As far as not having a tv, I haven't had one in 11 years. Now is the time to get creative. Read books, listen to the radio (music, talk shows, sports, etc.), Invite friends over and play cards or board games, play on computer, chat, research things, games, lots of things to do. Good luck!

Gonna call my Doc tomorrow about the Trex issue. If I can still take it, I will. In fact, I went ahead and used it this morning. Feels like I am damned if I do and damned if I don't.
I'm so light-headed I feel like I'm gonna pass out...
Hey Alley,PM your addy and I'll snail mailya some Trex as soon as I can get the funds to afford shipping.(And no, you don't have to send me a TV, LOL) I have a couple of other packages to send and right now it;s looking like I won't be able to send stuff oiut as I am poor (poverty sucketh). I'll find a way to get this stuff shipped out to you one way or another.
I actually found a nice TV at a low price for it's size, A Sanyo 31" for $345. That's really cheap around here. I figure if I can just stash away enough funds,. I should have it by Dec 25th,LOL.I went for years without cable TV and now I have cable, but no T.V.
Oh well, that just means I'll have to listen to twice as much music. I'm just pissed because a friend just gave me the Texas Chainsaw Massacre DVD and my brother just burned The Passon' on DVD and now I can't watch them...
I'm telling you, with me if it isn't one thing, it's a hundred others.
