Monday at 7:30 they begin cutting on me. I am having an anterior discectomy c4-c5. This is an add on to the c5-c7 that I already have. They have to take the old hardware out and put in new. There are a couple of things that I am worried about.... #1 is that taking out screws and putting them back in the same holes... although I am no handyman I have done that before and they end up being a little loose. I asked about that and they said, well there could be that problem... I asked if there was an orthopedic molly bolt and they said no. #2 I am still falling down, knees are buckling stills. I am scared that I will end up a quad...

I'd be surprised if you weren't worried about this kind of thing. The sawbones will be scared enough too and will make it it come out all right. My thoughts are with you and I hope you don't have this guy: I'm Evil Charlie

OMG You spine looks just like mine with no curvature in it at all. You have fewer arthritic spurs, and a little more space between veribra...what is this proceedure for? I'm truely curious. It's almost like looking at my own ex-rays.

Athos, Going on the way you have been is not an option any longer. I'm sure this will help your situation. There will be some recovery time and physical therapy, but I'm sure they have taken this as the best route to go for you at this time. Try to go with trust. All the VIBES I can gather for you, on the way. Kevin M

Ken, having had both anterior and posterior C4-5-6-7 fussion i can understand your concerns. Other than the post op pain and nec brace, the pain caused by the spine was relieved at once. Trust your medical team, have deep faith, and go in as calm and positvie as possible. Monday will be a day you are at the top of my 'thought & prayer list. Peace, -dan

Hey Althos, First, I had had 2 back operations so far. Had my back broken in 91. Used TSRH type of fixation when they fused my spine. Did research on the implants and found out that No matter what type they use the bone always grows away from the fixation. They should use some type of bone puddy to re install the fixation. Are they going to fuse the bones or just use the fixation to keep things in place? I have found the the Dr. i used answed all of my questions and concerns i had. Also Just like this CH thing we go thru you need to educate yourself.
