I went on vacation to Mexico this weekend with my wife and inlaws. Although the vacation was OK, conversation eventually turned to cluster headaches.
When my motherinlaw first heard of my HA's she printed off a couple pages of the usual complete bullshit about why we have headaches...ie; food, etc... I in turn printed her out about 60 pages of material I'd gathered from this site. So I thought that was it. I'd educated her and she wouldn't come at me with her hippy dippy bullshit anymore. 
Well... Now I know... Cluster headaches are caused by STRESS! 
I said "NO, THEY ARE NOT CAUSED BY STRESS..."
And continued to cite reason upon reason to disprove their stress theory.
Just a highlight... The reason we get hit after going to sleep is that "That's when the sub conscious takes over and we no longer have control over our thoughts, and whatever it is stressing us causes us to have a headache."
AND
Their answer to Goadsby's research about the hypothalamus, and why it can't be easily fixed because of the location of the hypothalamus...
"Oh, well that can be fixed by "skull platelet realignment/adjustment""...
Plus the whole basket full of bio feedback bullshit...
What the fuck??? 
God I fuckin hate hippies!
Please God, give me the power to transfer a cluster to someone with a touch, and I promise I'll only use it on stupid people and hippies, and the occasional doctor who refuse to listen.
It just befuckingfuddles me how some people are so closed minded and think that they have all the answers for something that they have never experienced and don't know shit about! And you CANNOT CHANGE THEIR MIND! They just don't listen.... 
Die you homeopathic, no new trick, old dog, pot smokin, wheat and dairy free, organic tree huggin, non cluster having, know it all, full of shit, pain free hippy ass mutherfuckers!!!!
And on top of that... Their my INLAWS!!!!

My mother in law get's migraines....
I said, "So you still get them?"
She answered "yes"...
Is it just me or is that my case in point!?
Well if you know sooo much about headaches with all of your hippy healing powers why the fuck do you still have migraines!!!?
I wouldn't give my worst enemy a cluster, but I'd do anything short of selling my soul to give them about 10 minutes each.
Just for the simple satisfaction asking them what they think about the subject now.

My God Chris, what you wrote is sooo fucking true! I don't talk to ANYBODY about this shit except my wife, all of you and my doc just for that reason. Even my own mother is so uneducatable about this. She just won't fucking listen.
And then you get the condencending not a very nice person out there that say "oh, it's just a headache". ARGHHH! Let me put a screwdriver in your eye you fucking dumbass and tell me that's just a fucking headache.
The attitude that people have about this, if they're even informed at all, is one of the most infuriating things about having CH.. Especially when you get that kind of bullshit from a so called "medical professional".

MArcs the same - he wont bother trying to explain it to people now.
His family try to understand but his sis (who does help us out a lot in other ways) is constantly going on about herbal teas and that chillin out will stop the headaches.
My family were like this too (some still are) but at christmas marc was having a bad one when i was 8 months pregnant and i panicked and rang my dad. It was 6:30am and they drove all the way down here and witnessed it for themself.
They have been very supportive ever since. Most people wont understand until either they experience themselfs or see it a full on attack - then they realise that its no fuckin' migrane!
Im going to stop now cos i have a lot of anger on this part of CH and i would go on forever venting out how pissed off i am with non-understanding bastards.

Totally embarassed to admit I haven't seen that episode, thought I had seen all of them! Particularly embarassing as I worked at the store in London that was often used as the filming location at the time and vaguely knew the person Edina is based on as she was at one time our PR person (God help us!, she was sacked)

I've only seen a few, but that one was hilarious. I think Eddie routinely snuck out of the commune for drinks and shopping.

Ah that was funny. I told someone to slowly pull about an hours worth of string out of your eyeball, and then pick yourself up and go to work so you dont get fired. Then about halfway through work, in front of everyone, do it again. But dont leave work........wait until you get off, then do it again on the way home. Pullover, no fair driving, then go home, colapse, and do it all again the next day.

I think as soon as you get married, and the in laws, can legally call you daughter/son in law, they IMMEDIATELY know everything about you. My mother in law PISSES me off so bad. She keeps telling me "oh, maybe your birth controll is giving you headaches, I bet you need to go to the chicropractor, don't eat aged meat, don't lift your children... blahblahfreakinblah. And everytime I tell her I have a "headache" she says " Oh yea, me too"

I think it's something we all deal with. I spent 4 days of my vacation listening to me sister-in-law tell me about how wrong my diet is, that I smoke too much, drink too much coffee, and on, and on. I can tune people like that right out - it's not hard to do if you've ever raised teenagers - kinda the same thing!
