DJ..........a request

It is now obvious that many of us believe in prayer. We have actually seen results of our own prayers being answered.
So as not to irritate those that do not wish to be constantly exposed to our differing beliefs, I wish we could have a catagory of our own on this message board.
That way, those needing prayer can ask for it, and those wishing to offer prayer and fasting can do it. It could be an organized catagory with organized functions when warranted. We could make every Sunday a special day. Wow, this is exciting!!
If this happens, I would like to reinstate CHangels, as I had to abandon it when I became ill and have not had the time (this is a shame on me) when I was involved as a board member. We could call the catagory the Clusterville Upper Room.
Thanks to Ree and her openly continuing prayers for our clusterheads and their families.

Besides being separatist, I think that it will mostly double effort. Almost everyone who needs help or is having a bad time will end up being cross posted in the General area anyways. If not, then I'm sure those who you are trying not to offend would still end up reading through a good deal of it, beacuse while they may not believe in God or in prayer or whatever, they are still concerned with fellow clusterheads regardless of religion.
I think most of the people here are adults who can read through the stuff that bugs them to get to the information they need. Personally, I think the last thing we need are Christian and Non-Christian areas. It is our differing beliefs and the way we come together because of or in spite of them that make us such a unique family.

Our local church always has a section of the service where we all contribute the people's names who need our special prayers at that time, whatever their religion or belief
It doesn't need to be denominational, or even strictly religious at all. People could just use it to send vibes or well wishes and good thoughts
It would feel a bit like that I hope

Excellent point Gator....It hadn't occured to me that it might set up two different camps. That's the last thing we need to do.
What about us just setting up a room where people can show up on Sunday if they want to, but keep the general board just as it is now.
Not excluding anything that is going on now.
Those of us who want to can do some serious praying if we so desire, for whoever we picked up on the general board as needing help.
Nothing changes....except adding a church to the village.
We will always be family regardless of belief.
Thanks for your input and keep the pros and cons coming.

ooh wow! Hate to put in 2 cents worth when it comes to religion, but think I must state what I believe on this matter.
First of all, having been here long enough to know from experience, when it concerns one of our own, the difference of our religion doesn't matter. We care as genuinely about one as the other whether we all practice the same faith or not. As for that matter, even those who choose NOT to practice the belief in faith have been known to show their true concern with well wishes and vibes all generated from being part of this family.
Secondly, it is my opinion that IF we actually DO...."irritate those that do not wish to be constantly exposed to our differing beliefs"......then this place is going straight to hell anyway so why bother!!!!
Sorry, don't mean to offend, but think we have enough division here already and don't need to find reasons to create more.
Anyway, "I" for one have NO reason to want to hide in another room to offer up my prayers or well wishes or anything of the sort.
Now, if DJ thinks it a good plan, then we'll all have to just learn to accept it.
Hoping that this in no way creates controversy that is certainly NOT needed here.

Our church has a prayer website set up where people will be praying for the posts 24 hours a day. The address is www.wnop.org for world network of prayer. It is a wonderful site devoted strickly for prayer for people for any issue.

I'm not at all religious but that others are has never bothered me. You won't find me being upset with people posting that they find so much comfort in religion. In fact, I'm jealous as all get out.

Glad you see the point - as an atheist I would never visit an "Upper Room" (might even be offended that I was left in the "Lower Room"!).
Like some of the others who've posted I think it important to see who is wanting help or support on the main board. I do think about people and their needs in my own way, but don't wish to see them separated off by creed, colour or anything else. That way lies perdition...

While I am extremely spiritual and strong in what I believe, I accept the "prayers" that have been offered each and every time that I have needed them. It does nto matter to whome or what you call your higher power. The power that genuin concer and care for others is what makes miricles happen. This board has proved that time and time again.
I think that Gator and Edna put it very well. (And Donna as well) Lets not fix what is already working.

I'm sorry...but I'm with Gator on this point. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I was baptized about 18 months ago and my life has changed forever. I agree that having a section for prayer will only further divide the cluster headache community. So far for divisions (and other points of disagreement or contention) we have:
--mushroom users vs. non mushroom users
--narcotic users vs. non narcotic users
--migraine suffferers (who think they have CH but don't) vs. true cluster headache sufferers
--some OUCH related issues
--political issues (abortion, the presidential elections, etc.)
And I'm sure the list can go on and on.....
There have been several times when I have seen a person express interest in Christianity and I have privately contacted them. Thru these private contacts we have shared our prayer requests, stories, testimonies, etc. It has been very rewarding.
Plus, I hate to say it but all prayer is not created equal (please view this as yet another possible bone of contention that could possibly arise if a seperate board was created for prayer). I pray to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ---I don't pray to Allah or Buddha, or whatever else is out there. If I know someone is Muslim then I wouldn't ask the to pray for me because I don't believe in their god. Sorry...... Again--don't take personal offense but please view the above paragraph as another possible division that could happen if a prayer board was created.
Alternatives:
If a post really hits your heart then pray for them privately by yourself or contact them privately and ASK if it is okay for you to pray for them.
Start a thread and ask people if they would like to participate in a prayer group, exchange email's and possibly phone numbers.
Start another website specifically designed to pray for CH sufferers.
