It's 5am. Hard hits began at 9pm last nite. Three total. Last one at 2am. Been shadow-boxing since - exhausted but sleep is out of the question. A glimpse in the mirror tells me Kim is still inside somewhere but behind a screen. Something else is there as well. Pretty soon Brian will wake and get ready for work. We will look at one another like a thousand times b4. No words. Just the exchanged silent grief. In a minute i'm going to try and take a shower, cuz i'm sweaty and stinky (oops i smiled - I'M STILL HERE GODAMIT ) Thanks for being here and giving me a place to go at times like these***I know you ALL know the place that i am visiting.... PF wishes

You're not alone Kim. I've had 10 hours sleep in the last um, 168 hours, or something like that. Coming out of a major panic attack right now from last sleep attempt. This is starting to mess with me BIGTIME!. Carl D

Hang in there Kim!! It seems that our friend is trying to take back my nights as well not yet with a vengence but enough to be getting me nervous. I haven't felt anxiety in a couple of weeks and now I'm a bit shaky. Trying not to let it show to Joanna though (hope not being stupid but it seemed to have been passing) I told ya before if ya need me even in the middle of the night I will try and it's no burden!! Eric, P.S. You too Carl! I know I'm hundreds of miles away but ya got another clusterbud if needed!!! Wish you all could get some rest and have Pain free nights!!!!

Hang in there Kim.... Heck, I gave up sleep or any hopes of it years ago when I went chronic! (lost a wife over it too...so..Brian, do the right thing...be there..nothing more ) think of it this way Kim....you get to see all the cool late nite TV.... You get to find what REALLY goes bump in the nite... You get to see just how far you can go without sleep before things in the house start to move on ther own! I've known acid heads thats paid good money for what we do as a normal course of getting by!!! I was finally able to go to bed last night myself at 5:30..only to wake back up at 6:30 to go offf to work... CarlD..hang in there buddy...10 hours in the last 168 hours? Hey..you can still type! don't let the deamon win.... Look y'all...it's not easy...but we do it..one night at a time...sometimes hour by hour.... I've ben doing HEAVY lack of sleep since moving to this third world s^&t hole...damn..what *ever* made me go to the tropics!!! lol But look, if I can do it, so can you.... I'm 12 hours ahead of you....so that means if you drop me an e-mail...I'll get it when it's the next day for you Sooo..if you're afraid you're not going to make it and are up at 0-Dark-30 drop me an email and I'll give you the lottery numbers for the next day If nothing else...you know you'll not be disturbing my sleep! Hang tuff! PFN's for you..... and as the Italians say...Golden Dreams! ExPat_Jac "livin and lying in 3/4 time...in Indonesia no less!" "damn it's hot here!"

Hey Kim, here are some of my suggestions: Natural remedies that have been helpful to some: 400 mg per day of Vit B2 (riboflavin) 400-1000 mg of magnesium (slow release is better and the side effect of diarrhea helps combat the constipating side effect of Vera) 9 mg of melatonin before bedtime Another drug to consider: I would take a cafergot before bedtime and it would help to cut down on the nightly nasties, but of course you know you can't mix this with the other triptans. One other thought: If you are taking any over the counter pain relievers, avoid tylenol, aspirin, and advil as they are thought to cause rebound headaches. Naproxen sodium (Aleve) is less likely to cause rebounds. The Vioxx drugs are also worth exploring. One additional thought: Shrooms may be another avenue to explore. These can be taken while on Vera, but you would have to go off the triptans 5 days before dosing. Possible side effects of the shrooms - a giggly experience and hopefully an end to your cycle. Good luck! Marsha

| You're actually not too far off the mark there. It's been shown in studies that a 20 minute nap (some call them Power Naps) can be as effective as several hours of sleep. Any more or less, though can leave a person feeling worse than if they hadn't tried. I've tried this when I was doing consulting work and traveling all over the country. Hang in there Kim. The beast will get tired of you eventually. Gator

Hey Kim, hang in there, I can relate to the early morning exchanges with your spouse. The last cycle, last spring, every morning my spouse would say to me, "how many?" I knew what he was asking, I know that he knew how many times I was out of the bed sucking on the O2. Many times I was up out of bed with a CH even before he got into bed. This too shall pass, keep that in mind. Marsha

| Kim, I've tried Feverfew with no success whatsoever. In fact, it might have made things worse for me. Go ahead and give it a try though, and I hope this latest cocktail will help. Peace, Carl D

Kim, a trick I use, I get a pillow and lay down to sleep on the floor. I sleep, but I don't sleep as deep, so I don't get hit as bad. Maybe, because I am not that comfortable, I don't actually get to REM sleep stage (where the beast usually hits) and that is what makes it better. It is not as nice a sleep as it is in your nice comfy bed, cuddling to your honey, (whom you might have just had a lil nookie with) but it IS some sleep. Also, because it is a light sleep, when the beast comes to call, I wake up faster, and I am not into the hit as far, and the O2 has a better chance of working. Sumptin woit tryin' .. Chuck
