Another Apology

It has been implied that my "display" at the pool game was a disgrace to O.U.C.H. and should not have been tolerated.
This was just meant as a joke, and I did not mean to hurt or demean ANY ONE or the organization. I was not there, at that time, as an O.U.C.H. official, but as a fun loving guy. With all the talk about previous "moons" I thought it would be acceptable.
I guess I was wrong.
If I offended anyone, I am sincerely sorry.

Chuck, you should not have to apologize for anything. Someone should apologize for waiting until everyone has gone home and then surreptitiously suggesting that your behavior was not appropriate!

Been following up on the various opinions going on over on OUCH where this was brought up. I'd have to say, I really didn't feel like you were representing OUCH at that point in time, either. The meetings were over, the banquet was over, and at that point..we were all having fun. The fun, social part of the convention is what draws most people to come in the first place, IMHO. Now if you had stood up and done that in the middle of the meetings on Saturday, that would have been an entirely different story!!!
I think you just manage to set an example to everyone around you for what an incredible sense of humor you have despite what you go through with CH and other pain. People need to see that!! (Maybe not in the form of your ass in a thong, but you know... LMAO!!!)

Much the same as when I questioned Ted's behavior when he threatened to "destroy" Elaine if she accepted a nomination to run for the BoD. That censure and vote took place on a completely public board for all of the members to see. It remained there for quite some time.
I still believe it was the appropriate thing for the leader of the organization to do at that time.
If I think people have ulterior motives, I question. If I believe people have acted inappropriately, I challenge them. If I think people are doing a good job, I praise and support them.

There is no way that Ted's actions and mine can be compared. His involved official activities. Mine involved fun times, yes at an O.U.C.H. convention, but at an UNOFFICIAL activity. My act was not meant to insult, demean, or hurt ANYONE. From what I saw, and have heard since, it was taken in just the way it was intended, PURE JOVIALITY! Nothing more, nothing less. If I offended anyone, I publicly apologize, here and now.
It was meant as a joke. Lighten up.

As webmaster at the time, I used to download all of the posts. I may have them on my hard drive or a backup but don't really want to spend the day looking for them.
What happened was that OUCH was accepting nominations for 3 BoD positions that were due to expire. Elaine was nominated. Ted, a sitting/continuing BoD member, contacted Elaine and told her that if she persued the nomination he would basically destroy her and make her regret it. This communication was shared with me. I took the issue of his behavior to the rest of the BoD. I believe that while we were discussing what should be done, Ted posted an angry reply and resigned from the BoD. End of story.
I certainly don't want to single out Chuck nor would I approach it the same as the Ted incident. I think a simple reminder to all offcers/bod that they represent OCUH and a certain decorum is called for and would suffice. I can't help thinking of the OUCH-UK people looking at the "convnetion pics" and what they think of them.

From where I stand, it does appear to be personal since you are not the President and no more than a general member just as I am. If Chuck had appeared at the BOD meeting, the dinner, or at our guest's lectures dressed in this manner, you or anyone else for that matter would have a legitimate complaint. As a private citizen, own his own time, he has a right to conduct himself in a manner that HE sees fit. Was it in the best of taste? No. Was it funny? Absolutely.
To address the resignation of Elaine.....from where I sit, if infact she was forced out, it is disgraceful. I can't imagine any qualified person that would want to subject themselves to the public abuse that the members of this BOD appear to receive from within, the general membership, and particularly from you Sir. The public floggings have to stop.
I can only hope that OUCH can pull itself out of the quagmire and move forward helping the sufferers of this hellish nightmare we call CH. I am committed to do all I can to help.
