Just getting my unemployment going and the unemployment office called my old employer and asked them if they would have let me use a wheelchair.. and they told her no.... that is basically why they let me go, is because they "could not make accomodations for me in a wheelchair" that it would be hard for me to get around in the office. No it would not... A survey of the basic layout of the office would show that where I would need to go would not be hard to do. They might have to move a table down the hall a little, but hey. The told the unemployment office, that I might have to do faxes and copies and things and I would not be able to do that.... come on.. even if I could not get out of my cahir for short periods of time, which I can, a wheel bound can still run a fax machine or a copier. I was there the day that I got out of the hospital, and he said go home and get better.... I kept calling and saying I am ready to come back to work... how are you he said.. I said.. I am still having issues falling down a bit, but I will be there in a heartbeat but I will either have a cane or a wheelchair. And he would say NO! My termination letter said: "Due to the fact that we don't know when you will be able to come back to full time work I have to let you go, sorry I see no other way around this." He called me and told me this before.. And I told him that I would be there. He said "no, Ken you are still falling down." I can use a wheel chair. again he said no. But now I have another witness that they say they won't let me work in a wheel chair, and of all people a government agency. I am sure if this goes to court that they will say... Well Ken was a lousy at this or this or this... but the facts of what they did I think cooked their goose. Can anyone refer a good Labor attorney?

Ken, Just got off the phone with a lawyer here in VA. Having given him just the background you listed in this thread, here is his suggestions: Go to the Legal Services website for AZ at: http://www.lsc.gov/map/AZ.htm. If they happen to not take your case, due to being overloaded or whatever, you can ask to be refered out to a private lawyer. 12.5% of the LSC revenue is earmarked for referal to private lawyers. You can state low or no income and they should be able to get this handled on a pro bono basis. Any lawyer you use, should be federally certified to practice federal law. A labor lawyer would be the icing on the cake, but not necessary. Ask the LSC for Status definition of Client Eligibility. Hope this helps, -dan edited for spelling

WOW! did you say Government Agency? Too bad I'm not a lawyer!!! I could use 1/3 of the settlement our tax dollars are going to sending to you. If you have everything well documented then any lawyer (even a bad one) should get ya something good. Best of luck!
