LIFE'S, MASQUERADE BALL
A cry in the dark, whispers you feel,
Masquerading faces,
What could they reveal?
Pain, Sorrow, Suffering, Sin,
Love, Hate, Deep Emotion.
The guests come in,
Uncovering faces, they check them at the door,
Each a hideous beauty
You know them well, you’ve danced with them before.
It's a big party, your Life's Masquerade Ball
Skeletons in closets are watching close
They don't forget, they remember it all,
The love you left, the sorrows embraced,
The pain you felt,
Compassionless hate.
The band begins to play the very first song.
Dance with all, dance with one,
But dance all night long.
The first is Deep Emotion, whose grasp you're in
A few times 'round the floor, forget who you are...
Then Sin cuts in.
Now Suffering or Sorrow, between the two you can't decide.
All three dance together,
One on each side.
You're tired now, sit for a rest,
Not too long, others wait
And you've yet to dance with the best.
Pain lifts you from your chair with his icy sharp hand
His finesse and grace cut you deep and deep
You stagger, losing balance, unable to stand.
All laughing, they leave on the floor.
You lie, wounds laid open.
And they grab their faces and head for the door.
Alone, the tears flow
Alone and lonely
Emptiness grows...
Healing touch in the darkened room,
Mending heart and soul,
Crushes what seemed eminent doom.
Love lifts, guides, you dance like never before.
Feeling love's power,
You glide across the floor.
The others just memories
As you dance with Love
Drowned in a moment of ecstasy.
You've beat them all, now you win
Others have faded away,
But will return
if invited again.
