Just got out of the "Good Samaritan Hospital" in pheonix.. becuase of the falling down and the back spasms and other stuff. They did a neuo check on me and a cardio check on me.. and said your fit as a fiddle now carry on with life.... Do the tango or what ever. They told me that I don't have and "accute" condition that would keep me in an "accute" facilility. Well I went on to ask them... Does falling down because your leg collapses fall under accute? Or the fact that I have budlgining disc's in my neck and have loss of streangth in my left arm and numbness as well? They would not answer me and dis-charged me. They aslo said all of these "other" things can be done on an outpatiet situation.... I tried to tell them there are no specialist in Lake Havasu and it is a 3.5 F@*k'n hour driver there. Get this one of the nurses there said she would not have her medical care done there... she has it done in cali... because they are they scary. How do you get your money back, or hell sue for malpractice. I am so sick of the medical community throught them all in a ditch

I can honestly say I know how you're feeling Athos. Symptoms are even similiar. Lost use of my left arm, then back and left leg, was treated horribly by the ER Doctor and sent home with no treatment. I wrote the CEO of the hospital and filed a complaint, it'll be on the "doctors" records, but that didn't do me any good. Within a month I loss complete contol and use of my whole body, had to be revived from death in an ambulance on a trip 30 miles away to the ER. After 5 hours there, I was sent home with no treatment, even though at discharge my leg was still shaking out of control. My doc then gives me a prescription for very high dosages of Prednisone as a pain killer while I spent months in a wheelchair. He gave me a calendar to taper off the Pred, from 120mg to nothing in 30 days. When I complained about other symptoms besides the "normal" side effects, I was told enough tests were done and I just "needed to go home and learn to live with it!." Now I travel 2 1/2 hours to see some real doctors. Never got a diagnosis on the original mystery disorder, but have added the possibility of a suppressed immune system due to the stupidity of my doc, "going home and living with it" may not be a choice anymore. If he has messed me up for life, or the other prospect I'd rather not imagine, I will file a malpractice suit in a heartbeat. Not just for myself, but for future protection of his other patients. Should have my new tests back from these new doctors hopefuly on the 21st. I'm with you on this, can't trust our doctors and they just don't seem to care. But justice will be done, maybe not for us, but for others. Make that 3 1/12 hour trip Ken, find some real specialists now before it's too late, I waited too long to do this and am paying for it in terms worse than money. Many have been following your trials you've been through and are praying and sending you many vibes and support, use that for strength to beat this, then go back after those docs. Get a copy of all your medical files they have on you as soon as possible. If you need help in the long run going after them, we'll get in touch and I think I can help you there. But first, get the right help first ... wherever you have to go. Your health is the most important thing to think about right now. We're all with you, stay strong no matter how bad it may get. We'll be here to support you as many of us understand how frustrating this can be. Leaving for the convention in a few hours, but when I get back, lets get in touch. I really think we have a lot in common and I'll do everything I can to help. Take care and God Bless, Dave

Sorry, just realized that 3.5 mile still won't do you any good as far as medical specialists. Do you have any type of decent health insurance? Pheonix is loaded with specialists, but the good ones are very expensive. We need to get in touch, let's talk on Monday and figure out what options you may have, don't want to see you end up where I'm at now, wasted almost a year getting the right help. I can walk now, but only for about 1/2 hour at a time and that seems to be getting harder everyday. Would sure like to help in any way I can, the sooner the better. Hang in there buddy and we'll see if we can come up with some type of solution. Talk to you again soon, Dave

Yeah, I couldn't afford the Mayo either. MS, ALS and Lupus seem to be the things left "on the table" as possibilities for me too right now, for the original disorder before the Pred. Of course all of these are so hard to diagnose, it seems to me doctors use them as a "temporary diagnosis" when they can't come up with anything else. They all seem to be like "catch all" diagnosis' or just plain excuses in my mind when they can't figure out what the real problem is. Be careful about self diagnosing MS. Two people with MS can have completely different symptoms. I know you can't help but researching on your own, I do a lot of that myself. Just try not to let things you may find stress you too much. Stress at this time can cause more damage than is already there. Since I'm going through a similiar situation, I think it'd be okay for me to suggest you try your best to think positive. Know it sounds impossible, but for the time being, it really is the best medicine we've got until we can finally learn once and for certain exactly just what is wrong with us. Don't stop the searching on your own, but please, I've learned the hard way that you need to be cautious not to let certain ideas of possiblities stress you out. Hope you'll keep that in mind as you search around. Guess I better get ready to go now, but I'll make sure we get in touch Monday ... just maybe we can help both of us deal with these unknows? Going to take me 2 hours to drive myself to the airport as I just don't trust myself on the roads very much and may need to pull off the road and regain focus. The drive would normally only take about 30 minutes, but ... it's safer to stay out of the traffic as much as possible and be ready to pull over quickly for either a CH attack or just problems with my legs or feet. So ... guess I'm off, look forward to discussing this in length with you through next week, much to think and talk about. Take care (and don't stress!) Dave

Just wanted to add my There are good (compassionate & caring) docs out there. Don't let a few a holes get you down. You just have to locate the right doc. Goodluck on your search for good treatment and the right diagnosis. Unsolved

I can relate...that kind of treatment is what makes me want to go to medical school and show these quacks how a good doctor works. I have quite a diverse background in employment, I was an auto mechanic for 7 years and now I'm in IT. One thing that always made me laugh was when a customer would bring a car in complaining of a noise or something. So I would ask them to take me for a ride and try to make the car make the sound for me...needless to say it never did it when I was in the car. But I would never send the customer home and tell them everything is 'ok'...I'd take as close a look as I possibly could and if I didn't find anything wrong, I'd call another guy over to try to find what could be making the mysterious noise. If neither of us could find anything wrong then we'd send the customer to the dealership and there would be no charge because we didn't fix anything. Now of course doctors can't send us back to our maker for diagnosis, but the least they could do is bring someone in for a second opinion...I wouldn't think any less of a doctor for doing so. In fact I would commend the person for admitting they were human and didn't know everything there is to know. ~Jake

Hi Ken, sorry to hear you're given so much frustration! This might sound totally off the wall, but...keep an open mind on this, ok? I have a very good friend who also exhibited signs of MS - complete with the legs going out from underneath her, unexplained tingling sensations, the whole nine yards. She was diagnosed to have MS and ended up walking with the aid of arm crutches for awhile and then eventually with a cane. Then she and her family sold everything and moved out of the community where they had lived the last 17 years and relocated to the west coast of Canada. Her daughter was also starting to show signs of MS at the age of about 20. They've now been living at the coast for about six months and *poof* all signs of MS have completely GONE. She visited a naturopath who did some testing on her when she first arrived. It turned out that she had an almost life-threatening iron toxicity in her system from the water where they used to live. Apparently, iron toxicity can closely mimic the signs and symptoms of MS and there is quite often misdiagnoses because of this. Now that they're away from that water, she and her daughter are completely symptom free. Might be worth checking into - same for you Dave?

If you should have the need to request copies of your chart from your doctors office or hospital, be sure they've included (which they don't like to do) the entire file....which includes: All consults, nurses notes, doctors progress reports, all labs and reports (radiology, cardio, etc.) medications administered, surgery reports, your history and physical report and case managers report. Most important are the nurses notes and docs progress reports. You will sometimes find discrepancies between the two. It is not permissable for any notations to be scribbled out or written over without the notation "error" and the persons name who did it.

Sorry to hear about your problem dude. Did your accident happen here i.e. PHOENIX? I was on staff at GSRMC for several years on their Trauma team. Unfortunatly what you had to deal with was the (BABY DOCTORS) as I refer to them. They will be Doctors when they grow up. Good Sam is a teaching hospital and the shear numbers of patients is scary. They let mainly resident physicians run the show and they work unbelievable hours. once a week they all have to pull a 36 hour shift before thier day off. Then most other days are 16 hours. They become tired and overwhelmed. I would look closely at some specialists being in Havasu isnt Vegas closer? Try there. Good Vibes

it is kinda of a toss up between vegas and phoenix, it is a little closer to vegas... I am just tired of the whole damn thing. Chronic CH is enough to deal with without the rest of this shit... I am tired/worn out and emotionally stressed out.
