BTW, I am really leaning toward making stained glass octagon windows, candle holders, windchimes, and perhaps a few large window pieces to sell on eBay for extra income.  I will be taking a course at the local tech college on the technicalities of it all, but have experience in soldering and art design.

What do ya'll think?

Hard to find collectables. Out of production parts for radios, autos, etc. Old books.

In general I look for stuff I can not go into a local store and buy. In other words....if WalMart has it, I don't look for it on Ebay.

Hope this helps.....

I buy sculptures and statues for the garden, kids toys and clothes (second hand designer stuff mainly)
I have a friend who makes a good living selling videos and DVD's. She says people get confused/carried away and pay more than they would in the shops so she makes a lot of money

Hey, Mel - talk to Elaine and Charlie in Nashville.  I know E used to get good results with baby clothes (when JD was little) and Charlie (I believe) sells collectibles.

Best of luck with this, gal!  Great idea!!

Knives. I used to buy torch lighters until I finally realized that none of them would ever torch again after refilling! Embarassed I've also bought cigar accessories on eBay.

BTW, I think the stained glass, wind chimes and candle holders will probably go over great with the men, but what are you going to sell to the women?

Aren't I a big help????????????

Mel,

What you want to do is type in whatever it is you're planning on selling. Click on the completed auction link. It will give you a good idea if your items will be profitable. People seem to be pretty cheap when it comes to buying on ebay unless it is a rarer hard to find item that you can't find in a store. Remember to figure your listing & shipping fees. Some things can make money and some are a bust. Good luck.

Mel I sold stuff I had around the house. Like bedspreads, curtains, baby cloths and some of Devenys meterinty cloths. Cloths sale good, I sold some for more than what I paid for them. Blankets just about anything in good condition sales. People start buying in Aug for Christmas from aug til Christmas toys sale good. Also Christmas crafts sale good.
Another thing you can do is go around to yard sales and buy stuff that is easy to ship for the house and resale. on ebay. The best is go to a auction and buy in bulk and sale it.
I like to look for things for the house and stuff for the grandkids. They love mail so enjoy getting stuff.
Maybe that will help. I did real good but they don't make enough hours in a day for me to do that and everything else I have to do. I may get back in it when the boy goes to schol myself. Oh things like speakers and car steros and things sale there great.

Thanks everyone!  I have already the means to purchase wholesale and closeouts and also to be a distributer, but I was just getting a feel for what people look for that are somewhat, "different".  I do know which things are sellers and which doesn't get even looked at, so I'm a little ahead in that area.  I was basically looking into something new, and I think I have found a couple things that I was looking for.  I do have the money for start up costs, and can definately triple that loss (or better) within the first month, so it's all good.

Thanks for lending me your brains, no matter how disfunctional and deformed they are!!

Most recently I purchased all the parts to build a computer, $650 even after I destoyed the first cpu (didn't buy a monitor). Other than that mostly jeans and T-shirts. The best luck I've had in selling things would be harder to find hub caps like DeSoto and snowmobile studs and parts.

I'm sure I've been a ton of help, not exatly wholesale items.
Good luck to ya and I hope things work out for you.

Mel & Co:

Meanie has it right. Open ebay, go up to site map and then browse down to "completed listings." It's a great place to start.

I don't buy much at ebay. It is a good place to find sort of out-dated electronic toys. Lots of them are new too.

You can find lots of kids clothes, nice cheap copies of a book you might want, tons of pottery, and all kinds of puter crap.  Look around, you can buy everything from flour pots to bondage material. The latter is hilarious. Type in "bondage" and you're off.....and before you all go nuts, I had one of those "Mens" maganizes from the 60s that showed Nazi torture on the cover.....Big money in old S&M stuff  Shocked

I am always buying unusual earrings, funky jewelry and unusual pairs of cufflinks.  I also shop for hard to find CDs and DVDs.
