Zomig clinical trials in Houston and Dallas

The same clinical trials that they are holding at NECH, are now taking sign ups in Houston and Dallas.  The clinic is the Houston Headache Clinic, the doctor is Dr. Ninan Mathew.  He also is in Dallas every two weeks.

If you are interested and in cycle.....please call them.  The number is 713-528-1916, ask to speak with Paula.  Dr. Mathew said he didn't think it mattered if you had ever used the spray or not.

Help get OUCH noticed.....SIGN UP TODAY!!!!!!

OK, this one's in TX and I just KNOW there are a lot of sufferers in TX, so pick up the phone and CALL you guys!!  It isn't like you have to go in and pull someone's teeth out, nor should you feel silly calling about a trial.  Don't be embarrassed about your condition, you didn't do anything to make it happen, so why feel like you gotta hide it? (I know that's how "I" feel sometimes)  Anyhoo, this is to help not only YOU out with perhaps getting some free relief, but it also helps by getting a drug documented FOR CLUSTER USE!!  Which would be pretty cool. Cheesy

Same here!  Calling Monday.  Dallas is only about a 4 1/2 hour drive from my house.  Hopefully they let me do it.  I have already been using Zomig NS since April.

I have been headache free for about 3 years now and consequently have not been on this board since then.
Last night I believe a new cycle started as I had my first mild cluster.
Having been free so long I am out of touch with what new treatments have become available and after reading the first forum see that a trial is starting for Zomig NS in the Dallas area, where I live.
Can someone please explain what Zomig NS is and what success people have had with it so far?
Any other information on new or improved meds for clusters would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Bob Lawrence

Bob,

Zomig Nasal Spray is new to the market (few months), and it is supposed to work as fast as a trex injection.  When I used it the first time, it took 5 minutes to knock out the hit.

You might also check out Frova or Relpax (both triptans).  These are tablets with a longer half life than any nasal or injections.  I think Frova's half life is around 24-26 hours, and Relpax is around 6 hours.

For those who have not done so yet... I spoke with Paula - the clinical trials are ONLY being conducted in Houston - NOT Dallas.  She did say that for this study, it did not matter if you have ever used Zomig NS or not.

Dallas = long drive.  Houston = too damned far.

Looks like I strike out again.  Sad

Sorry about that Gator.  Mathew's himself told me it was going to be in Dallas, because I told him I didn't want to drive to Houston.

Guess it's a case again of the staff knowing more than the doc.

Sorry guys....... Sad

Hey, it's not your fault, Roxy.  You were just passing on what you were told in good faith.  There still should be some clusterheads taking advantage of this in the Houston area.

Come on people, get off your duff and help a fellow sufferer out.  This stuff works and works well, unfortunately it is currently only "approved" for migraines.  The only reason most (but not all) insurance companies will pay for it is because they classify CH as a type of migraine in their little formularies.  The clinical trials will get it approved for use on CH and all sufferers will benefit.
