OK... Where are the Nascar fans?

I know that there HAS to be some Nascar fans out there. Who's your favorite driver? (Waltrip) What's your favorite track? (Bristol, Daytona) Who would you like to see hit the wall hard? (Stewart, Wallace, Kahne) I've got my tickets for the BrickYard now. Half way through turn 1 about 15 rows up. Perfect view. I'm taking my digital camera and cam-corder with so I'll be posting something interesting after the race. I'm staying in the camping area accross from the track the night before the race so the stuff I get on my cameras may be more interesting than I bargained for.

To wish to see one of them hit the wall HARD, is a pretty shitty thing. I HATED I mean HATED Dale Earnhardt, but it was a tragedy to the racing world to loose him like that. I cheered when I saw him wreck and the amount of guilt I've felt since then is huge, you will never see me wish for some one to wreck again, it is not in the nature of a true fan to wish injury or death on a driver, they have wives and children too you know.

I didn't in any way mean that I'd like to see someone get hurt or killed in a race. I also thought Earnhardt was a jerk but it was a tragedy when he died. I guess I should have phrased my question a little bit different as in "Who would you like to see hit the wall hard enough to get taken out of the race?" I see that you are a Wallace fan so I'm sure I touched a nerve with my answer. I'm sorry if it read kind of harsh but it was not meant in that way. It looks like I'm going to have to start using disclaimers. Disclaimer: I do not wish harm or death to any driver in the Nascar races. There are some drivers in particular that I would like to see with some DNFs though. Hitting the wall very often results in a DNF.

| WRONG! Dude part of being a race fan is taking shit about your driver from other fans. So I sure hope your favorite drive is Mikey, and not DW, 'cause he is out to pasture. Oh and BTW doesn't Rusty have enough friggin' DNFs Jeez.........

I've been a big Martin fan for years. (since the late 80's). Since he lost his sponsership with Valvoline ... his winnings and standings went south We gotta watch these new young drivers now. They are TOUGH ! Favorite track is TALLADEGA. Been there 15 times (at least). Camped outside the track with 30 of my closest friends every year for years. Bristol is a good track too. Every seat in the house is a good one. Tickets are hard to come by unless you buy from a 'scalper'. Indy (the Brickyard) sucks ! Can't see the race. You'll be watching most of it on a giant TV screen in the middle of the track. If anyone has to hit the wall ... may it be Stewart ! He's caused alot of wrecks (and fights) this year. I don't want to see anyone get hurt though. I was there (at DEGA) to see Dale Earnhardt SR. win his last race. I watched him race several times. Never forget the day he died. It was like Elvis just died. Unsolved

I know about not beeing able to see at indy. I did see some pictures that were taken from the seats that I will have and you can see the entire front stretch and all of turns one and two. The rest of it I'll watch on the TVs. I'm happy just to be going. This will be my first Nascar race.

| The seats are about half way into turn one about 15 rows up. In the pictures I saw, it was almost a perfect shot straight through 1 and 2. and all of the front stretch. I don't even care because I'm finally going to a race. Now I just have to make sure and not party to hard while I'm camping accross the street the night before the race. I'll watch the back stretch and the other turns on the jumbos. Thomas... I'll make sure and take a walk down by the fence to catch the breeze. I'm sure it'll be a rush. Pat

Who's your favorite driver? Ward Burton (Brian Vickers is my fav. rookie) What's your favorite track? Bristol Who would you like to see hit the wall hard get a string of DNFs? Stewart & Jeffie-Poo Seriously ... Bristol is my all time favorite track. As others have said there's not a bad seat at Bristol & it's a great place for race fans. My least favorite track is Indy. Went to the Brickyard last year & that place is just too durn big to really enjoy the race ... plus who wants to be sitting in Indy on one of the hottest days of the year. Later BruceD

Leave it to me to get technical here...... NASCAR has many different series....from Nextel Cup (I still haven't gotten used to that name), to the local weekly tracks that run under NASCAR sanction through out the nation. Nextel Cup is with out a doubt the best promoted racing series in the nation, but for people like me that have followed racing in all forms since they could walk, it's the most boring as well. NASCAR has taken what was a exciting series 20 - 30 years ago and slowly transformed it into a mild mannered, watered down version of it's former self. Old, unique tracks (like North Wilkesboro, Rockingham, the OLD Nashville Speedway, etc.) are replaced with cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks that lead to gas mileage races and little or no actual racing. Tony Stewart aside, they have fined, brow beat, and otherwise threatened all the emotion and personality out of the drivers turning them into perfect reps for sponsors with little or no individuality. Post race interviews can be so predicable, I can almost tell you word for word what they'll say before they say it. Half the drivers out there are too busy riding around selling $35 t-shirts, $25 hats, and endorsing the latest cure for a limp noodle on tv to be bothered with trying to actually win a race....and laughing all the way to the bank doing it. Rant off.... Now......to answer the questions..... Favorite driver.....Tony Stewart. Anyone that pisses off NASCAR as bad as he does gets my vote. Says what he thinks, emotional. Damn they hate that. Favorite track(s).... Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond. Hit the wall? No one.....I know what it is like to fix the damn things. In closing......I urge all my fellow race fans to check out some regional touring series races and your local Saturday night short tracks.....you'll see better racing, more emotion, drive to win, and heart in one night than you will in a whole season of Nextel Cup. These drivers and crews, like me, are racing because they love it, and a win means more to them than just increased souvenir sales. Bill (who has been there and done that [crewing Nextel Cup]...and came to back to what's real. 2 races was all it took.)
