Tell your story of convention of years passed!

Lets make these people coming know what to expect. Could some of you that have been to one of the conventions tell something about them, so  the new people going feel less nervous.

I been to all but one and each time is better than the last but the one thing that stays the same is the feeling EVERYONE has there. Its like you have known each other all your life, the nervousness just disapears. They are fun and educational. There is something for everyone. Buniess for those that like that and education for ones that want that and lots of information. Of corse the best med of all Laughter and fun. These things have been found at all conventions. It will be the same this year. Supporters walk away understanding our bond with each other more and clusterheads always seem to find out what its like to be a supporter.
The worst thing that always happens is saying good bye! The strongest and biggest even walk away with tears. No one ever wants it to end. You walk away with a heart full of love and more understanding than ever before.
I am excited and can't wait to meet you all. I am so glad we had Leesa and Jayne and Cat to do this for us. Its a job I have done and I can say it was one of the hardest jobs but most rewarding that I ever did besides being a mother and wife.
Tell your stories people, I know there are many to be told !

I, certainly, wont be the one to tell about how Den and Jonny kicked butt in Atlanta, almost got us thrown out the hotel....and we were in the midst of such a jovial lively crowd staying there at the time LOL.....I can still see Ueli's face when us gals got him lost in Atlanta....I can see Mo and John as I ate lunch with them...and miss them terrible....I remember all the hugs, the tears, the laughs, the jokes....I remember what it felt like to have family ever time I think of Atlanta...and then again when I think of the Florida gathering...so many things happened that are etched in my heart forever...one stands out among them all....I remember DJ asking us to be with someone while they experienced a ch so we could understand how our supporters and families felt...I did this....He was rite...You will never be the same...... Myself......goin to the first convention in NY made me nervous as hell......got Brad interested in the idea and the plans were made......but to seriously go somewhere 'that far' and try to mingle and make thngs work smoothly with a bunch of total strangers overwhelmed me. I'm used to large events and functions and meeting new people or mostly being with alot of people I KNOW.....I almost chicken'd out several times. Wonder'd what I'd do if we walked in and some said hi and others snubbed us (not there type.....or.....something).....what would we do......it'd be so awkward and would feel like fools !!!!!! Plus sometimes I think not being around and make no impression would be better then goin and makeing a bad one.....I wasn't sure I really wanted to do it.....after all I am just a supporter and only thing Brad knows about you people is what "I" tell him.....figure'd it'd be even more awkward for him. I mean.....what if people think were wierd cuz were a bit nervous and don't flow at first.  What if no one took to Brad cuz he wasn't in the 'posting' click. Well......if any of you newbie people feel this way.....trust me......the minute you see any of these guys on here it is INSTANT bonding.....it defy's nature !!!! People have tendency to hang with there own type......but with these guys your all a power of one. So drop your inabitions and get signed up.....and see ya there......this actually is a real world Pam

The porch scene sittin round bullshittin bout everthing and anything never runnin outa conversation was jus way too cool. Laughin at yourself and laughin at each other. Gettin to meet faces behind the posts was awesome........time went too fast. (ps: I think I corrected all my mistakes.....in a hurry.....sheesh.....but imagine some may be aprehensive about goin cuz of not knowin anyone. Maybe this'll help)  ?

Oh Boy.

It was my first convention too. Being on St. Lawrence River made it cool in more ways than one. Summer in the 1,000 Islands works out great in July. Meeting all these brain-damaged clusterheads was tons-o-fun and you get to sample barrels of good and bad beer, if that's your thing, while discovering that not everyone sounds like TV weatherman. We’re from everywhere.

We had a great show and tell from the research doctor and nurse from the NYC headache clinic and some listened to Ave and some others. Lots of food for thought and consumption. Everybody surprised me as these kids know a lot more than I about this disease.

It was great and meeting clusterheads is something I recommend. Being in a group and not to having  to explain these things to others, was wonderful....even if some of us got caught on the porch listening to old man Hap sing awful folk songs while wrecking a geetar.

I had a hell of a time.

Vancover was a good one. Going through costoms and losing jane at the airport was kind of scary finding her again was a rush LOL.  Walking in the hotel and seeing Margi walk in the door was all so cool. It was just like I knew it would be she and I were sisters forever. Seeing Bonnie again and us ladies running from store to store getting last minute stuff.
The walk on the boardwalk was just lovely. Linda Howell was my roommate and boy did we party LOL!
Playing golf and getting hit (by a cluster not a golf ball )and DJ having to take my place. Thank God for the team DJ took over. It was so cool just sitting under the stars in the court yard and talking late into the night to each other. As each it was that bond that we each had, clusters and supporters together.

Jayne in Atlanta trying to run over me LMAO.

I left JD my grandson with Mo and John wile I picked people up at the airport. Some people thought I was nuts leaving my grandson with people I only knew over the internet. JD was in good hands. My cluterfriends are the only people outside my family that have ever cared for him. Now that is what I call bonding.

Jonny had all the beer in Atlanta we spent all night calling his room and banging on his door. LOL

In NY cat dipping her head in the river in the midle of the night to get a cluster to go away. Here she comes hair wet I thought my God she feel in LOL I can honestly say that NY was the first for me. I never share my bed with so many people before and didn't get any LOL

The sad thing that we all knew was when someone got uP to leave you could read on their face they were going to battle a demon we all knew all to well.

I remember Kip getting hit in Rochester NY man he walked the parking lot half the night. Barbara H with wires on her face getting what electro shocks. I learned more about my clusters from these people than I ever did from medical books, etc...

Coming home and being down for days missing everyone.

These are memories I will treasure all my life.

Fucking Big Dan is coming to this one! It just gets better and better. Wink

Seeing Kip get hit (first time for that) in Rochester and not knowing what to do and doing the "wrong" thing and knowing I was doing the wrong thing -- wonder he didn't kill me.  Then Elaine getting hit and then Drummer -- all different.

LasVegas - "Gee I never met a CH sufferer before!" was the byword. And Bob, remember it took TWO days for anyone to even notice "oganization", but mine is hanging up and I laugh ever time I look at it. Our four hour agenda taking 15 minutes -- didn't want to miss any stories from anyone.

Atlanta - everyone getting hit. I remember standing at the elevator (couldn't get any further about that time) after taking my cafegot. I was trying to be unconspicious and just stood there banging my head on the marble beside the elevator when DJ walked up and wanted to discuss something that took some thought process. I think I tried to tell him I was getting hit, but apparently he thought I was just nodding, so we had some type of conversation that probably had to be repeated the next day or so.

and Jonny and Den's big fued. Don't think anyone knew what was going on when Den jumped on the table yelling at Jonny and Jonny turning over his chair and then the both of them ending up on the floor hugging each other and everyone laughing their heads off. Leesa doing her famous table dance. Nancy C being Nancy C (an experience no one should miss).

for those who have never been to convention -- Sell the kids to get there, but GET THERE. It's something you'll treasure for life.....

Hugs BD

This is my 4th. convention and I have probably met  a hundred-plus ch'ers and their supporters. I have yet to meet an axe murderer.  Yes, my 1st convention in Atlanta I was nervous, but by the time Elaine and I got to the hotel that was totally gone.

It isn't about the partying...it's about having a good time with people you've come to know and love and have a bond with.  Personally speaking, I couldn;t feel any closer  to the people at conventions, who have seen me get hit and were there through it and helped me and then laughed with me afterward.    If you prefer to be totally alone, we all understand.  But if you need help there will be 50 people jump up to get you anything you need.

Last week-end I went to Canada to visit Margi and Mike where they were camping on a lake.  Of course I get hit and guess what?  Margi carries around a bag of FROZEN PEAS!!!  even when she's roughing it.

I'd love to tell the story of the night in Vancouver with Doug W.and Liz and me....but Elaine you tell it so much better. lol
