Anyone read Swedish?
« on: Jun 24th, 2004, 3:17am »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

I have a sheet of paper that goes with a bottle that I bought in Europe over 30 years ago.  The Swedish reject (Svenn) said that the writing is in Swedish.  Can anyone translate it?

Here is an excerpt from it:
Floribusen är föfknippad med 1600-talets bullrande dryckesseder, den lärde Sven Lagerbring talar med vetenskaplig nykterhet om ”floribus och andra narraktiga dryckeskärl som gåvo tillfälle till nya dryckesrön, att man icke matte ledsna vid ett och detsamma.

Any help anyone?  Is it Swedish?

Charlie, do you read any Swedish?

Chuck,

Working on the translation, I have a few Nordic co-workers who might me able to tranlate.  If not I have a Swedish customer, He's a first class not a very nice person but he might do it.

I'll post the translation as soon as I have it.

Cheers,
April

How about a wild guess ...

Warning this bottle contains 1600 doses of concentrated bull testosterone, the late Sven Lagerbring took half a bottle and said just before dying "I thought it would have worked to cure my impotence, not get me stampeded by a herd of horny dairy cows.

Chuck,

I've got a Swedish coworker working on it. She says its a mix of old Swedish and Norweigen.  As soon as I have the translation, I'll pass it on.

It says, "Sweaty boobies are very tasty. For a good time, call 1-900-HOT-MIMI. If you desire paddling, Helga will be more than happy to accomodate you."

Then again, I might have the translation all goofed up....  Grin

No relatives have survived.

Probably needed some of this Lutefisk poisoning remedy. Can't find much  Undecided

Big dose. Maybe it's some kind of dietary supplement or some kind of weird vitamin

Looks like cough medicine from the few things I found. I think it's a liquid

Chuck,

from the little she had time to read today, it's about a weird shaped bottle used for drinking beer.  The instructions go on to tell you exactly how to drink the beer from the bottle.  I'll have more for you tomorrow.

Late seeing it - good enough to bump!

Not word for word but it means!

This drinking vessel is related to 17th century noisy drinking customs, the learned Sven Lagerbring spoke with scientific sobriety about this and other similar drinking vessels giving a gift of new drinking customs to men to avoid boredom with the one and the same.

In short – when drinking becomes boring – do it another way!

Guess he's right ? I wouldn't know. I usually use http://www.worldlingo.com/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html but I don't know if it will do Swedish or not.

I saw this strange drinking vessel thing too but I wonder if we are missing something? Words in context, I mean. English and German are impossible to deal with without some contextural data.
