What do you do when you have a family that would do any thing for ya. Have spent the last few years making dreams become reality. Then you find that you can do something good for them but it would interfear with something you wanted to do. Hmmm what would ya do be happy and give them back what they gave you for years or beselfish and do your own thing?
Fighting my conscience here come on vote help me out here LOL! Come on your my friends give me help I hate this fight going on in my head its giving me a friggen headace

Could you do the 'something nice' after you've done what you wanted to do for yourself. Would they understand how important your wants and needs are.
Don't beat yourself up - guilt is such a wasted emotion.
Sometimes we just have to do for ourselves and not worry about others. It's good for your own peace of mind.
I've read lots of your posts and I know you're a kind and caring person so just for once allow yourself to put you first because it sure doesn't sound to me like you do that very often.
Not sure any of this helps but I tried. Carol.

From what I've seen, you tend to put others first, already and I know you've done at least as much for the people here as they have done for you, probably more. Take one for yourself, this time. Then if the other can be done, do it. If not so be it.

Go on a real vacation get away from it all my Love! It will do us all good. Vacation a time devoted to rest, travel, recreation. Everyone needs one. A real vacations!

What's the worst possible thing that will happen if you make yourself feel good? Perhaps you can live with it or.....chances are you can find some way to make them help.
I sure don't practice what I preach but one thing to remember is that people LOVE it when you ask for their help or opinion. Try letting them in on your problem. It may surprise you.

I am with Buddy on this one.
What your family has done for you is because they love you. And what they would tell you to do in this case, is to go on your vacation. Everything will work out Elaine.
Your family didn't do the things for you because they thought one day you would pay them back.
Take care of you and the Buddy, and try to work out another way to help out the family if you want. But your family, I know, would tell you to go and do what they know is very important to you.

Dear Lady E, if you give up something you really want, how is the rest of your family, that loves you very much, going to feel?
They will know you sacrificed something. What is the use of that, if they feel bad as a result? Could they still enjoy what you were going to give them?
