Damn.. It there were one place in the United States where I would NOT live, it would be Oklahoma. I have a friend who lives in Norman and I worry constantly about her and her family, everytime I hear about severe weather out there.

We didn't get it as bad in Indiana on Sunday but the weather service confirmed 14 tornadoes in Indiana. We stuck it out in a pop-up camper all day on Sunday with severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings all day. The worst we had to deal with was some really heavy rain and 60-70 mph winds that almost took the canopy off of my camper. What would Memorial Day Weekend be without severe weather any way. Well...I'm glad everybody made it through it OK. Pat

No matter where I go, they seem to have "The worst weather in 40 years" No lie. I graduated high school in LeCompte, LA. I think it was 1978 there was the worst ice storm "in 40 years." When I went to Greenland 1983 - 1984, it got down to 128 below 0. It was the coldest place on the earth for 3 days. I was in Tacoma, Wa from 1984 - 1987. During that time they had one of the worst winters "in 40 years" 1987-1988 Osan Air Base Korea. One of the worst monsoon seasons. We were walking around on the flightline area in water up to our waists. 1988 - 1991 Misawa Air Base Japan. During that time we had one of the longest winters anyone could remember with snow falling as late as the 4th of July and over 135 inches of snow. Since living in Oklahoma, we have had the F5+ tornado in the OKC area, followed up by two more F4's and numerous others. We had one of the worst tornado seasons in histroy. While the state averages 52 tornadoes a year we had over 148. I'm a bad weather magnet. Maybe there is a nice house available where you live? Gator Bad Weather Magnet

You're all right. Poor Oklahoma has taken a beating in so many ways. First from anyone in Texas, then the dustbowl and Grapes of Wrath, Okalahoma jokes from Will Rogers, and now Oklahoma City bombing, and of course the nightly news tornado watches. Jeesh. lotta shit for a small population. Charlie

Most of our town is without electricity since Tuesday. Some think they may have it by next Monday. Blew out the power to the cable company last night and most everyone has be internetless all day. Just got it back on. I'm one of the lucky ones -- Mine just went off for a little while and came back on. At least we have airconditioning. It's hot and muggy when the storms aren't hitting. Had winds last night of about 70 miles per hour. Don't know where to go to get out of WEATHER. You just ride it out.... Take care KOP. Hugs BD

I am SO afraid of these bad super cell storms !! They come up so dam fast too. Heard an explosion yesturday and it was thunder ??? Never heard nothin like that before.....were down ina valley so we can't always see what's comein and thunder echo's. But this sounded like a huge explosion and I expected to see shit flying and smoke likea dam mushroom cloud up over the trees from it's direction. Scarey shit !!!! I heard some of these storms quoted as 'gustnados' where the forecasters could not determine a true tornado. Wonder how insurence co's like that new term ? Gust-nader Pam

Dang, that all just sounds like no fun. At least earthquakes don't have any of that 'anticipation' terror, and usually within a second or two, you can tell exactly how bad it's going to be. My point is, it seems like for all the other disasters, there's a lot of time where you are in terror about the mere possibility that you or your stuff if going to be destroyed, often for no reason at all because you escape damage and have a big sigh of relief. With a quake, in nearly every case, you are pretty damn sure just how much you should or should not be grieving in less than a few seconds. They might be terrifying seconds, but it seem more livable to me. Call me crazy. Maybe that's why we're so laid back out here (in Northern CA, any... heh heh). My heart goes out to you folks that are smack in the middle of it. That sounds hellish to me. -Fu
