I am concerned with some of the comments that I have seen on the board here. It has been mentioned that this is a cluster headache site, and other illnesses or maladies don’t belong here.
Yes this is a cluster headache site, and I thank the Lord and DJ for it every day!
BUT, we are complex individuals, and many of us suffer from other problems. Why can’t we discuss them here too? Especially here in the General Post area? I, for instance, like Svenn and Cat and others have a heart problem. Many of you have a back problem, with ruptured discs, and other discrepancies. Some of you have MS. Some of you have migraines. Some of you have or have had cancer. All of these topics have been discussed here at one time or another. Yet we all have (or are supporters to) cluster headaches. Therefore, I think it is perfectly acceptable to discuss heart problems, back problems, eating disorders, MS, cancer, and yes even migraines (sometimes).
We are family. If one of us is having a problem with some other aspect of our health, I feel it is perfectly acceptable to go to family for ideas or input. Many times, our other problems, like a heart condition affects how we treat cluster headaches.
Am I totally out of line here?

I agree with you Chuck
I've had some really invaluable advice and help from here when my son was very ill last week.
It was the first place I came for advice from people I trusted who had "been there" themselves or who had specialist knowledge.
If I had had time, I could have found a relevant support group, but I didn't as I was briefly back from hospital, and I needed help fast. Where else could I have found people with kids with the same condition, a specialist who actually treats kids with the condition, and a kind and helpful friend who researched stuff for me and posted it. And all this was in the space of hours.
I know we shouldn't end up diluting what this board is here for, but asking friends for advice on the General board MUST be Ok surely?

I suppose with this as my introduction to the guidelines of this board, as well as what I have read in other posts, and by the "General" heading, anything goes. I have read lots of whining, a little chicanery, but where's all the cheap sex.

I guess the only one who can REALLY say is DJ. If he thinks something doesn't belong here - he'll let us know.
Are we a FAMILY or NOT? I Feel like this is my family... maybe not everyone feels that way - but I sure do. I love you guys............... (have I mentioned that?)

I agree with Chuck.
When my son was diagnosed with Diabete's, I posted here and got wonderful support from everyone.
I think that this is my family. There is a lot to learn here about CH and about a lot of other issues too. I'm glad that I feel that I can post about other things besides CH. It makes me feel not so alone at times and I've gotten some wonderful advice and have spoken to some wonderful people too!
Chuck, you are not out of line here. IMHO anyway.

I think on the general board we can talk about what ever we want to. Use to we just Had one board. DJ has made us several boards. If you want to talk clusters only then he made a cluster board. He also made a board for people who first come here the, get to know each other board. Then theres the fun board for jokes.
I think the general board is for us as a circle of friends to talk about what ever we want. I plan to do just that till DJ tells me I can't . He has done a great job. There is always going to be a few that just have to complain about it.

Hey Chuck, I don't think this thread really has anything to do with cluster headaches. 
I'm pretty confident that this board moniters itself pretty darn well. There are enough veterans here to keep it in line and D.J. does a great job keeping it focused.
By the way,D.J. I just got the invoice for your big brother bowling outing. Which I learned of in the general topics board.

Totally out of line? Naw, BUT the chmb is for and about clusterheads and their problems, what ever those problems might be. It would be a disservice to someone that is not associated with clusters in some way looking looking for help here.

A guy on one of the other boards said good-bye and pulled his posts because he thought we were insensitive to his diet solution. I was dumbfounded that a quick judgement was reached when several people responded with very considerate and thorough posts. Some let him know it was fine he was PF with it too, but I saw a lot of consideration given, which he chose to ignore and then generalize as us all as "insensitive"
That is one word which cannot be attributed to what I have seen here among us. There no bounds to what we have undeniably embraced for each other. Clusters require full support for what it brings to our lives, . The supporters here are unnbelievable.
The humor here is always welcome by me, and whatever other off-beat post makes me appreciate the creativity, thought and effort that is made by those here. Clusters really suck. There is no room for delusion about that fact.
We also try to help each other with all of the
significant obstacles, deep pitfalls and pain as constructively as possible for each other.
Discussing clusters involves all these things or we actually would be insensitive, not to mention uncaring for each other.

I am unaware of the issues that have occured in order to create this thread, however in general I agree with Chuck.
I have come here to discuss many issues other than CH that effect my everyday life. This place and people become home and family, and sometimes this is the most comfortable place to discuss and discover other issues we experience throughout life. It is easier to hide behind a "tag" and talk to family, rather than to sit down and talk face to face with others.
As mentioned, there are other boards, so if your after CH only info then there is an avenue to only discuss events that directly relate to CH. Or simply read and move on.

It is easier to have the "Tag" and communicate behind the wall. For me it keeps my wife from knowing it's me if she ever was to read the MB and see the number of times echo has flamed his spouseal unit. But can also work against you in setting ongoing relationships. Very very few on this MB know who I really am. That will change at Nashville. Just trying now to figure out two logistical problems. How to get there for one, and leave the wife at home for the other.
Did I digress? Do I care? Do I like ferrets?
