HuhMy dad told me how some have said mushrooms(shrooms) help with cluster headaches. I would like to know your input on that idea. It's just a medical inquiry. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks.   -Stephanie-

Stephanie,  Mushrooms can be a very touchy subject.  Thier legal status in most states keep a lot of people from talking about them unless they know who they are talking to.  I would never personally recommend them unless all other legal means of treatment have failed and depending on the person, maybe not then.

Is your dad a member of this website or OUCH?  If not, I would try and get him to log in here and read about ch and the methods of treatment.  Also look at the site recommended by thomas.

Good luck on your info quest.

Stephanie,
Yes,psylicibin (Magic) mushrooms have helped many
CHers be pain free or at least given some improvement.
Shrooms probably have the highest % success rate of
any treatment. They are also safer than most meds.
For some it has been a choice between an illegal
treatment and a life in hell or suicide.I understand that
your father has given his word that he would not use
any illegal substance as long as his kids don't.I respect
that greatly,he gave his word, honor above all else.
I myself would not be able to watch a loved one suffer
when there is any option that has not been tried
weather it is illegal or not. This treatment is valid enough
that Harvard Medical school has agreed to begin clinical
studies in an effort to isolate the effective action of
LSD and psylicibin on cluster headaches,in hopes of
developing an effective and legal treatment. That is going
to take many years.
If you want to know more about this treatment
and how it started read the board archives at-

http://www.clusterbusters.com/2002.html
http://www.clusterbusters.com/2003.html
It has not been 100% effective for 100% of the people
who have tried it but it has been a miracle for many.
 Be well,BillyJ
