Although something must be done to lower the astronomical cost of Pharmaceuticals...the idea of importing drugs from certain parts of the world, still scares the hell out of me. Are we quaranteed these imports will come from reputable wholesalers in Canada...No. Selling fraudulent or copy-cat drugs, with no account for efficacy, strength, or whether there is any of the active ingredient whatsoever is big business in some parts of the world. Truck-loads of these fraudulent drugs are confiscated everyday. & that's hoping that they are at least safe. There is also a slim...but possible chance of getting poisonous copy-cats. There is also the negative effect any importing can open up in a nation's economy. Manufacturers have to recoop their money from research, testing & advertising new compounds. A huge percent of the mark-up comes from the retail end & not the manufacturer. How else would you account for one chain selling for far less then another chain. They are getting the drugs from the same manufacturer. I just hope the rush for cheaper drugs does not effect the quality we have come to expect. Good article, though.... Jimmy
