They've been picking my brain!

So this Wednesday I finally had my MRI scan... Two guys spend 16 minutes and 4 scans picking my brain.  Grin When it was over, I nearly asked them if they saw sowething wrong in there!  Cheesy

This is how it went:
First scan (2mins): feels nothing, piece of cake
second scan(4mins): I feel burning on both sides of my brain
Third scan (5 mins): Leaves me feeling so weak I would have needed assistance to get up!
Fouth scan (5mins): Feels okay, just light cool wind breeze on my forhead

Afterwards I felt metal on my mouth and wanted to throw up contantly even hour later... Well, my neuro should get the results by next week and hopefully, by week after that, I should know too. Wish me luck!

Best wishes,

Were you injected with something?  It shouldn't have hurt.  I didn't think they injected for MRI's just cat scans.  I am allergic to iodine so I can't have the injections because it causes burning, swelling and problems breathing.  If you were injected maybe you had some kind of reaction to the dye I would definetly discuss this with your dr. so the next time a test like this comes up you will know weather or not to have the injection.

I was not injected for my MRI either, I just hated having my head in a brace. I'm usually not clausterphobic but damn I hated that thing. Just focusing on y breathing cause I felt like I was being suffocated and noting was over my mouth

Over winter break I had like 5 MRI's of different parts of my body for injuries and headaches.  Only on one MRI was I injected.  Sometimes they do an MRI with contrast, and then they have to inject a dye.  It was the first time I was ever injected for an MRI, though.  It didn't have any effect on me.  I usually fall asleep in MRIs. LOL

"Googling" for side effects of MRI scanning yields "no side effects" at most sites. Except in the case of contrast being used, particularly with one kind of contrast: Gadodiamide

Side-Effects that usually do not require medical attention
These possible side-effects may go away as your body adjusts to this agent. However, if they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
More common:  coldness at place of injection; dizziness; headache; nausea
Less common or rare:  agitation; anxiety; changes in taste; chest pains; confusion; diarrhea; dryness of mouth; fever; increased watering of mouth; pain or burning sensation at place of injection; ringing or buzzing in ears; stomach pain; unusual warmth and flushing of skin; vomiting; weakness and tiredness.

Other side-effects not listed above may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, inform your doctor, nurse, and/or pharmacist.

Might be ok, but should be mentioned to the doc.

Take care.
