There is a new movie, a documentary called 'Super Size Me' that is out. The documentary is about obesity in the U.S., in which the director eats nothing but Mcdonalds for a month. so, to sum up: after eating nothing but Mcdonalds for a month the healthy, young director almost dies from liver failure, he puts on 30 pounds, he becomes impotent, he suffers from serious mood swings and depression, he can't walk up the stairs to his apartment, his cholestorol levels double, and his kidneys start to develop problems. after one month of Mcdonalds. I read the review. Sounds real interesting. -Scott

More cootie ramblings: Everything in moderation is supposidly one rule of life......I've even heard if you ate "alot of oranges daily" for long term they'd make you very ill......can't remember the story but it was serious. With animals esp dogs and cats you have to be careful about treats or junk food cuz too much can actually be toxic......I mean you can give a dog a couple of french fries and kill it......dependin on the animal of course. Have heard of cases of animals becomeing deathly ill after a few table scraps or fast food nibbles and rushed to the vet with liver failure cuz of toxic poisoning to that animal cuz of the overlaod of fat or protien. Overload in protien can 'founder' a horse and ruin it for life. Not jus an allergic reaction either were talkin about. Always found that interesting and one of my study areas......cuz these drastic effects with animals ring true with us also.......why wouldn't it ? (yeah cats and dogs can't digest onions ect ect I know that so don't give em them) But if too much fat or protien can overload a pet with ONE setting and kill some.......man.......jus think about it and what we eat and how much of it and often ! Shorter lifespans quicker response I know......but still. Pam with food for thought

One of my bosses eats only McDonalds. Maybe it was what the dude in the film was eating, cause my boss has lost almost 30 lbs. He gets a breakfast burrito and Diet coke for Breakfast, and a Spicy Chicken sandwich and Diet Cake for lunch and dinner..... So this only proved that it might not be where you eat that hurts you but what you eat.... -Tia

I've seen a couple of little blips and pieces in the news about Super Size Me. Sounds like bullsh*t to me. More like he's jumping on the "I'm a dumbass so I have the right to Sue the Bast*ards!" If the story is true, and that's a BIG IF, then I say the idiot deserves what he got. I'm not a big fan of MacDonald's or Burger King or Jack in the Box or Pizza Hut or any of the fast food chains but I do sometimes grab something there. I do know it is not bad or unhealthy food. They all have a good selection from meat to fish to veggies. Until it's proven otherwise I'll take it as a made-up story by a crook that's trying to make a fast buck by tearing down big business. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' with it.

Hey...it it's kind of funny you gotta admit! Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock eats all his meals at McDonald's for a month for his documentary "Super Size Me." By James Greenberg PARK CITY -- "Super Size Me" is one of the new generation of documentaries in which the filmmaker becomes the subject. In this case, director Morgan Spurlock had the bright idea that he would eat at McDonald's three meals a day for a month and see what happens. The outcome is not a pretty picture, but thanks to Spurlock's oversized and buoyant personality and some pretty nifty filmmaking, the results are as entertaining as they are sobering. Spurlock got started on his journey, which took him to 20 cities, after seeing a news story in which two teenage girls were suing McDonald's, blaming fast food for their obesity. The question of personal responsibility versus corporate responsibility is a central issue in the film, with corporate deceit taking more of a beating. If the docu has a shortcoming, it is it's failure to acknowledge that all obesity is not the result of eating junk food. But a lot of it is in this country, which Spurlock notes is the fattest nation in the world with 100 million overweight people, 60% of whom get no exercise. Spurlock manages to cram in lots of alarming facts and stats with the smart and amusing use of animation and music. For instance, a colorful map of Manhattan sprouts flags indicating each of the 83 McDonald's locations on the 14-mile island. Later, over a split screen of smiley Ronald McDonald commercials, Curtis Mayfield sings the classic "Pusher Man." Spurlock starts out the picture of health, a strapping 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds. Three doctors and a nutritionist, who reappear throughout, examine him and attest to his well being. But within a few days he's vomiting out of the window of his car. And it's downhill from there. Spurlock's body goes through a general deterioration that surprises even his doctors in its rapidity. (His girlfriend, a vegan chef, is beside herself.) Gaining weight is just the outward sign: His liver becomes toxic, his cholesterol skyrockets, his libido sags, he gets headaches and becomes depressed. In between the daily journal of his gorging, often with supersize portions of Big Macs, fries and soda, Spurlock interviews people on the street, the U.S. surgeon general and a lobbyist for the fast-food industry. Not surprisingly, reps from McDonald's do not return dozens of calls requesting an interview. One of the most distressing stops along the way is at a school in Illinois where kids are fed pizza, soda and sweets to their hearts' content. The real value of "Super Size Me" may be as a cautionary tale for kids. It's lively and funny enough to hold their attention while delivering an important message.

Yeah, I had an all out McDonalds fit last weekend. I admit. I went there and gorged on Biggies fries and burgers. Gotta say, it felt like I was getting high. There is something in that food....... -Scott

| On the whole I agree with Bob. I rarely eat at McDonald's because its too far for me to walk. I like it though and would no doubt eat there often. Running in terror away from good food because cable news says so is nuts. McDonalds is okay, just don't move into a dumpster behind the place. Just use your head. Anorexic supermodels are not the norm. How many people like that do you know? They are very rare. Eat up but don't go nuts. Charlie

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I love food, any kind, home made, fast food, restaurant, I agree with Pam...all things in moderation...too much of anything CAN have harmful effects... I love that this guy thinks he changed the way McDonald's serves their food because of his documentary...like anyone has that kind of power, I say its a money thing and thats about it...no one was ordering super size, why sell it? just my 2 cents!

| Me Too! I just have to find a cook and a home. What I mean is I have a home and I can thaw a pizza and the wife can cook great. But........ Tony Roma's ribs, Outback's porterhouse and bloomin' onion and Cheesecake Factory cheesecake is just to good and to easy. Besides, we just had a home cooked meal, last Christmas when we visited my mother in law. I don't worry about gaining weight. I'm a pretty tall guy, almost 5'7" and am now down to 282 lbs. Take the sugar, salt and fat out of food and what do you have? Rice cakes.

Convenient, my butt. I got to put the clicker down, get my *ss up off the couch, walk all the damn way to the end of the block to be one of the billions and billions served. By the time I get back the Simpsons are already at the first commercial and I probably missed a Homer 'doh'. They got nerve calling it fast food. And they forgot the double extra secret sauce! Couch cushion fries leftovers tomorrow. Kevin M
