Just happened to be flipping through the channels and ran across their show about headaches.  Simon Bower was on there at the time with video of him chatting on Elaine's chat!

It will be on again at 4pm Eastern time for those of you with the Science Channel.  I will tape it this time!

Is it a regular cable channel, or do you have to have digital cable?

WOW....Simon has some 'bolas grandes'.

It gave me cold chills when he said he let them trigger a cluster, and then stuck him in an MRI (or CAT) tube where he couldn't move.  Just the thought of being on my back makes me crazy.

That's a brave ass guy.

There is no friggen way I could lay still in a tube for an MRI.  I'd come through the side of the machine.

I saw the same show last yr on the dicovery health channel, which is on digital cable in my neck of the woods (midwest). I've noticed shows they have on during the week tend to get repeated on the weekend.
But you are right, Roxy, I wouldn't be able to stand it either, not only would I come through the machine, but I'd make everyone deaf in the process!

Yup, saw the show last year too. I figured it was going to be another program about migraines, tension ha, etc but when Simon popped up I was floored. They actually devoted time to clustters. I'll watch for it again 'cause it's worth a repeat.

Thanks for that clip DJ.

As for the headache quiz...I ironically got the 1st question about clusters wrong-there are physical similarities between sufferers.  I suppose by that they mean that most CH sufferers are men.  But interpreted that as meaning most are short, fat, balding...things like that!  Tongue

Personally, I think the 5-1 male/female ratio is a bit overblown.  Seems to be plenty of women on this site (hardly scientific)...but I suppose if the issue is really a mal-formed hypothalmus, then there is a shared physical characteristic.

May only be 10 minutes of an hour show, but at least it is something.

I can appreciate Roxy's quote......being stuck in that tube during a hit is bad enuff. To go into it voluntarily takes a lot of 'brave'!

Another interesting note - the film clip explained the finding of the enlarged hypo*mus in CHeads (thanks Simon, but I still think yer nukking futs).

I think this is where we need to focus on in trying to get people to take this condition seriously.  Cacer can be "in remission" but there is no such thing for a migraine sufferer.  The fac that doctors use this term in conjunction with clusters is very important and telling.  The fact this is is more of a physical attack on the body, thus when it is in remission the body has a chance to heal...
