Vibes Needed BIG TIME - bad news...

Hi all,
This is Toni. (helpless23). I wanted to tell you that the day that I posted to you guys about the Maroon 5 show and the charity, I got a phone call from Ken (krock23), my husband about my son. Apparently, he wasn't feeling too well and he took him to the Dr. and found out that his blood sugar was 459. He called me and told me that he had to rush him to the hospital. I haven't been able to get on here until now - but I wanted to let you know. I can't find my password for my name, but knew Ken's so I'm using his.
My son was diagnosed at the age of 14 as a diabetic - Level 1 - meaning that he will be on Insulin for the rest of his life.
We have been here since Tuesday with very little sleep getting a lot of education for the disease.
I wanted to ask for all the prayers and vibes you guys could give, and I should be home tomorrow with him, but things will be hectic. It's a whole different lifestyle about a disease that once again, like CH - I have no clue about and have to read, read and read about to take care of my baby.
I am still going to do the auctions - but it's going to be some time. Right now my son needs me and we need to get things right and on schedule to keep him healthy.
So, I don't know if any of you were wondering where I was (the people that I usually chat with here) or not, but I wanted to ask for the vibes and prayers.
I really appreciate it. I will post more when I have a chance. I won't be able to get back on here until the weekend - but thanks in advance.

Toni, darling, know that my prayers and vibes are heading your way. So sorry to hear this news.
Let me give you some hope. My wife is also a "juvenile" or type 1 diabetic. She has been on insulin for over 40 years now. She used to inject herself everyday, sometimes more than once a day. She is now on an insulin pump, that gives her much more control over her sugar levels. Know that this can be dealt with. Yes, it is hard at first. My wife has lived a good healthy life, so far, and does anything she wants to. She is actually in better health than I am.
There are also, GREAT strides being made towards a cure.
I am not belittleing the illness. It is serious, and life threatening, if not controlled. But I am telling you that his (or your) future is not over due to this. He can go on and live a full life, doing whatever he wants to do.

You and Ken take all the time you need. Learn what you can and get as confortable as you can with the new education. It is a lot to learn but you will get the hang of it.

My 13 year old nephew was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a little over a year ago. It is a real change of life style but one he has managed to take control of. It's a little hard at first, but I hope (and think) your family will handle it very well.

PS> My nephew goes to a 'diabetic camp' every summer now and he learns so much. He'a around lots of other kids with the same thing. He really loves it !! He doesn't want to miss one. Maybe they have one near you too !?

Vibes, prayers and hugs to you and your family. Try to do some little thing for yourself too so you don't become to worn out to help your son.
We have a diabetic son-in-law who is now on the insulin pump and it's been a god-send to keep him better regulated.

Thank you guys ALL for the vibes and good wishes!
We are home - and things are hectic, but going well.
Sugar is being monitored (for anyone who knows what a worry wart I am (DAN!!!), it's often!).
It will take some time to get used to - but I'm going to get it right and give my baby a normal life!
