YEEE HAAAW! Zomig Nasal Spray Rocks

I saw the headache specialist today and as luck would have it, I got hit during the exam. He whipped out a Zomig Nasal Spray sample and BAM! tranquilized the beast right there!!!  He gave me a couple more samples and a prescription for up to 3 per day. Believe you me, I filled that bad boy. The stuff is expensive as hell $155 per dose. Got good insurance (knock wood) so it didn't actually cost anything near that.
He also started me on Pred 60/40/20 taper and is (for some reason?) leaving me on the Indomethacin, even though it doesn't really work that well. It's our first session, so we'll see. I go back next week for a follow-up and we'll adjust from there. Oh, yeah, he also put me on Nortriptyline - this is supposed to help with depression and the pain. Hopefully this will help silence the constant background stuff and maybe even (dare I say it) at least cage the beast if not kill it outright!
One more test - the dreaded 2am showdown with the beast. {A Clint Eastwood Movie Score plays in the background - dooweeooweeoo wah wah wah} That one is always the worst. Last night, I felt it coming on early, so I took 200mg of Demerol and 50mg of Phenergan. (It's all I had to fight back with) Like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Flipping beast blasted through and we had a real headbanging time. I'd hate to have felt it full force. This time, I've got a fucking elephant gun.  Here beastie, beastie, beastie!

I am amazed. $155 a dose doesn't compare to the $36 I am paying for the Zomig nasal spray.
I have been using the stuff for three weeks now. It is fantastic how quickly it works - and no matter how bad the attack is. Good stuff!
Calling it an elephant gun is right on the mark for sure!

I don't know what it was, either the drugs, the no sleep at all the night before or the combination of it all, but the beast never came knocking last night. I actually slept through the night without being awaken with a headache for the first time since January. Dare I get my hopes up?
Maybe the Zomig Spray on the table by the bed scared him off.
