BAD side effects!

Ok, well I haven't had a ha since 4/5/04, so that's good I guess...
But I'm having some sort of fucked up reaction to my meds I think. I'm on 480mg verap for the last week, and I'm just coming off a 16 day pred taper.
Since beginning these meds I've been breaking out on my chest with what looks like acne pretty badly. My wife said something about what looked like a rash going up behind my ear on Sunday, and today I just noticed it looks like I have chicken pox or something on the side of my head. Basically I'm pretty heavily covered with what looks like zits from the chest up! Blech! 
Has anyone else experienced anything like this with either of these meds? I'm also taking magnesium and a One a Day vitamin...
Help!?
I'm waiting on a call from my doc now, but has anyone had this reaction?

I actually broke out with acne about a month after I went on Verapamil (240 twice a day). Acne was never really an issue for me growing up which makes it kind of unusual being 35yrs old to have it happen,..but..it lasted only a few weeks and It hasn't come back yet. So I did'nt persue the cause. The connection did cross my mind at the time though.

It might be from the meds...either the pred or the verap. may the combo of both. I'd let it ride and see if it clears up, or becomes more like a hive situation. Regardless, you are PF thats a plus, at least thats what I'd feel. I know I had a rather extencive break out across my back and shoulders of acne and a few on my face with what I think was the pred. Still have a bit of a scab on my chin from one...but I will be happy if I can have one good night of sleep or just one PF day right now.

Prednisone can really fuck up your immune system, I had a nasty bout of shingles right after taking a course. My Doc blamed it on the prednisone anyway.

Um.......I'd also mention it to my doc ? Maybe yer allergic to one of the meds and 'can't' take it...wouldn't want it to get worse or develope into sumthin esle. Be safer then sorrier Pam

I been on Verap for a long time and have been reading here a long time.....this is a first for me to read.
I know Pred fucked me up, not like you but worse with hip pain so bad I couldnt walk.

I just had something akin to that two weeks ago... attributed it to a Baclofen allergy... see my post on the Meds board.
Started on my hips... then my chest... then all over. Stopped the Baclofen and went with an antihistamine... chlorpheniramine (same as ChlorTrimaton). Cleared it up... pretty as before... perhaps even more so.
Was also on Verap and mayhaps a bit of Pred at the time.

I got massive acne on my forehead with Prednisone.
Also other weird side effects.
It got the thumbs-down.

Well, my last pred pill is tommorrow, and the doc told me to stop the verap immediately.
So I guess that's good if this shit clears up.... i don't like being on meds if i don't have to.
Now... I guess we'll see what happens with the headaches. 
I've still got some trex, and 1/2 tank of O2 that I haven't had to use in 10 days. I sure hope it stays that way.

Prednisone causes acne on the chest & shoulders. If you're ever at the gym and see the really buffed guys who work out and they tend to always have breakouts on their shoulders...chances are they are on 'roids.
I'm surprised your Dr would tell you to stop Verap immediately...need to taper down from that stuff...carefully (just like you do with the pred).

- it's a common side effect of all corticoids (pred is a corticoid) to cause acne occasionally
- all meds can cause an allergy that may mimicry an acne.
- if there is an allergy causeed by verapamil (a phenomenon which is pretty rare), a dermatologist should be able to decide if it's acne or an allergic reacton
- if a MD discovers an acne in a pax that's taking corticoids (like prednisolon, for example) then it's most possible that the corticoid (like prednisolon, for example) is causing the acne.
- if a MD is sure (in the a.m. case) that it's acne and he stops a patient taking verapamil instead of prednisolon then he's a quack.

Side efffects from medications? think I have had them all...especially from the antiseizures and PREDNISONE...With Prednisone, I had to be rushed to the ER ...elevated pulse and b/p....not good..no acne from it though...neither from verap....

I get the awful chickenpox like rash on my back and
chest everytime I take pred.Docs swore it could not be
from the pred but it was.They called it folliculitos,a hair
follical infection.Bull shit!
I really doubt that the verap is causing it.

I do get hives. I have actually stayed off meds this cycle to see if it was a side effect of meds.
Five minutes before a hit a get hives up the inside of my forearms. SO BAD that I can write my intials up my arm and they rise into big welts.

Ive only been on Pred once and I had such bad groin cramps that I couldnt walk either.

Funnily enough I have had a hair follical infection on my lower lip. Every cycle it fires back up again.
Go figure. Who really fucking knows what the beast brings with himin his santa bag.
