Okay, can’t help but add some thoughts here about a previous thread I believe are worth thinking about.
The “Passion of Christ” was a historical account of how crucifixions were carried out in those days. It focused on Jesus, a historical and religious leader; there are more documents not only from the Bible, but from other historians of the day of Christ, his illegal trial, method of scourging, etc.
When I saw some of the comments on the other thread saying it was too graphic, too hard to watch the pain or cry at the emotions of His loved ones, whether religious or not, I have to say … “Hmm …”
I have never once seen a Clusterhead discuss the ideas of a documentary, movie or book about CH that want just a quick, easy on the eyes, ears or mind summary of a CH cycle and only be “happy” spending more time focusing on the remission (resurrection?).
I thought the movie was outstanding for not toning down the torture Christ went through.
If we get our documentaries made, should we also down play the torture the Beast does to us? Only focus on what might make viewers more comfortable? I think we’d be completely outraged if the true nature of the viciousness of CH was not shown.
Whatever a situation might be, tell it like it is/was!
If we can’t watch something like The Passion of Christ because it’s too horrifying to see such pain instead of identifying with some of it, we’re far from ready to ask people to watch a documentary about Cluster Headaches!
 Just my simple thoughts,
Dave

Dave,
You are absolutely right. A documentary should be just that, no punches pulled. Otherwise there would be the "Oh, I get headaches too" response. I never fully realized what  I was going through untill I went to Rochester and witnessed  another clusterhead go through it. But of course, 'til then I had never met another clusterhead.

Good point Dave, once again I agree wholeheartedly with you. My wife and I saw the movie last Saturday, and she had a point. It's easy to "edit" the parts you can't stand, when hearing the story for the nth time, or reading it, because you only imagine the suffering to the point where you are able to process. In this case, there was no escaping it, unless you walked out of the theater, If you walked out of the theater, well, you missed the point completely.

As far as the CH documentary, I agree as well, tough to watch it, tough to live through it, but that is what it is, tough.

By the same token, interestingly enough, I had a major attack on good Friday (the day prior to watching the movie). This attack, lasted several hours, excrutiating pain, with enhancements..

But guess what, I didn't suffer nearly as much as what I saw the next day.

The point is, true, having CH sucks big time, but that shouldn't blind us to the suffering of others. This is NOT, the most pain that exists. This is NOT, something that will kill you. This is NOT something that will get you sympathy. We run the risk of becoming selfish and self centered by our narrow view of our suffering. Nobody understands what we go through? Not true, EVERY clusterhead understands, and if you believe in God, well She does too.

By accepting our condition as PART of our lives, and not the WHOLE of our lives, we can go back to changing diapers, working, reading, taking care of our homes, in short, living the full lives that we could..

Very well said, my friend.  I just shake my head when I hear folks say the movie was too gruesome - think how it felt for Him!   Roll Eyes

ANYWAY, Dave - that's a very good point.  Witnessing a cluster attack is something that shouldn't be played down at all.  That's the only way we will ever raise awareness is to accurately depict the horror.  I doubt, sometimes, that sufferers even realize how graphic an attack appears to a bystander.

As I stated in the original thread on this topic...

If it is a watered down version of an image of Christ, his life, death and the living conditions of the time period then the movie is not for you.

Again, I appreciated the historical and biblical accuracy of the movie on all levels right down to the using of subtitles to translate the aramaic spoken throughout the film...should this film ever make it to DVD I will immediately purchase it, simply on principle, and historical merit. save the fact that it was extremely well directed, shot, and acted...I don't have enough thumbs to put up in its favor....a MUST see...the violence etc. condemned by many only added to the drama.
