that some jerk saw fit to attack the OUCH-UK message board because of their stance on not allowing the shroom therapy to be advertised on the site. Because of it, OUCH-UK is now moving their MB to a paid members only area for security reasons. My way or the highway. Someone didn't get it their way so now everyone else has to hit the highway! The person who did it din't have the balls to use their own name. They logged in as our past Pres. Don to make their posts, some personal attacks on MOB and his wife.

I feel so sad for the some of the clusterheads who need that site, but won't be able to have access because they don't have the money. Whoever caused this to happen will find out that whatever deeds you do, good or bad, will all come back to you eventually. mel

You're right Bob - it is very unfortunate. OUCH UK has taken this move to protect their membership and, rightly so, I feel. I hope everyone realizes that they have also enhanced their facilities for visitors and non-members, though! They will now be offering a dedicated board where help and advice can be found for non-members. Their trustees and officers will continually monitor the non-member area and assist their visitors. Did you know that OUCH UK also has a "help line" (phone line) that sufferers can call and talk to fellow clusterhead volunteers? They do good work at OUCH UK, folks. I think they're reacting to this attack in a very professional manor. This is certainly not a money grab on their part, by any means. This is a move to enhance the security for their membership. Also, I hope if MOB is reading this, that he knows that he and his wife have our full support and good wishes through this chaos.

Thanks for posting that Margi. Mel and Vig, you've got it all wrong. Margi is right, no cluster sufferer in the UK will have to pay to get advice or help, the same as it is now. People will have the option of having full membership for £10 , but they will still be able to go onto the website, ask questions, have them answered rapidly by people who have in depth knowledge of their condition and also talk on the phone to those same knowledgeable people if they prefer that or are not online. They will ALL have access to the wealth of really great information there is there. All we are doing is preventing people coming onto the site and onto the message board at random, pretending to be other people and posting obscene, vile and incredibly upsetting things about others and trying to take the site down at the same time. It is one very sick clusterhead who tries to do that to other cluster sufferers, and I pity them. Wendy

Ok Wendy, thanks for explaining it to me. I thought they had to close everything off because they hacked the WHOLE site. I didn't know it was just because of someone screwing with the message board. mel

OUCH UK is doing what it has to do. 'Sad' is the correct word to use, as this kind of behavior by the rogue poster is completely stupid and unnecessary and has no potential to advance the issue of shroom therapy, right or wrong.

Mel The whole site was hacked, as was OUCH Canada's. Theirs went down, MOB held ours up but at a horrible cost to him and his wife. The obscene insults were and are being put on the message board. And the people concerned haven't stopped yet, that's why the new security measures are being installed. There is no choice. But again, it must be stressed, no cluster sufferers will be prevented from getting help and advice if they haven't the money, never have been. Wendy

Just so the record is straight here.....OUCH Canada's message board was hacked and shut down the week prior to UK getting hit. We didn't draw attention to it, because that usually just fans the flames. Hints of the same modus operandi were there, but our attack was not as brutal as that aimed at UK. MOB and I have compared notes, webmaster to webmaster, and although we were able to get IP numbers, it is impossible to point fingers because of the anonymity of the internet. I may be outta the loop here, but I hadn't heard that these attacks were shroom driven/related and I think folks are better off not assuming that that is the hidden agenda here. Preying on people in pain is a sad thing to do and we've all had to take measures to tighten up security as a result. Let's not start things up all over again, ok? Our webmasters for the various OUCH sites are at the helm here and keeping things under control. Let's let them do their jobs, ok?

Hear Hear Margi The people who did this have hidden in a cowardly fashion behind the log in names of others, and using the Clusterbusters name also so unless they declare themselves, it is unfair to point fingers. Lets just agree that they are pathetic, sad little no-lifers who have so much time on their hands because of their lack of a real life that they can do this to cluster sufferers. Wendy

Vig No idea why you think innocent cluster sufferers will be stopped, stopped from what? What WILL happen is that the site will become a safer place to be. I for one will be very happy to feel that I know who I am talking to and that they are who they say they are, and they are not going to abuse me or others. W

I was listening to the creator of 'The Sims' computer game speak at a conference a few years back. He said their web site was getting attacked 100 times a minute! Hackers are looking for any targets on the web with vulnerabilities, nothing personal. I seriously doubt there is a motive.

I don't think people should be allowed to remove posts, it can put a whole message thread out of context. I am reading the posts Wendy, and it is about as clear as mud. You don't worry about trying to explain, I am ok with not knowing.

what's with the caps and the weird accusation. I was talking about the posts in this thread, and I was also talking about people who remove their own messages, not moderators who remove malicious messages. I am the same guy you talked to earlier about twin genetics, I am a friend.

Sorry John Upset and angry. Your post didn't read like that. It read that people shouldn't have removed the obscene posts from the UK. Have people removed posts here, missed that? W

Edit Ban List IP banning: (e.g. 192.168.12.213 or 128.0.*.*) - one entry per line Email banning: (e.g. badguy@somewhere.com) - one entry per line Username banning: (e.g. super_dude13) - one entry per line YaBB has a util for ban controls....don't know what board setup UK and Canada are using. It ain't foolproof, and doesn't work worth squat for hackers flopping from one changing IP address to another (only a real nitwit would use a static IP.) Good luck trying to stay one step ahead (or behind) this nit, RJ

we all use the YaBB format, Mr. Happy. It's NOT foolproof and it does have security holes. A webmaster could spend the rest of their lives banning IP's, emails, and usernames and still get nowhere. It seems the US boards didn't get attacked. I don't think Italy did either. It's not a YaBB issue at all.

| Thanks to both Margi and Wendy. Let me state publicly then, that not only is Clusterbusters not involved but we also condemn such actions. As far as I know, no member of Clusterbusters is involved in any way. So, if anyone has information that proves that incorrect, please let me know. It appears that OUCH UK has taken steps that will make their site better than it was before. I hope that will be the case. I can think of a half-dozen different intended victims in this. I can't diagnose the "cause" but the "effect" isn't appreciated by anyone. PF (note: A reputation is much harder to repair than a website)

Well, Kindly leave me out of this cluster fuck...I was told by someone from the UK that rumors were about that I crashed OUCH Canada or maybe even a friend of mine did. I think anyone here that known me, knows that I put my name on everything I say and do and I never delete any of my posts.
