March 28th, 2004 I got the most incredible and painful cluster headache that I've ever had. It was horrible, and it lasted a whole FOUR excruciating hours. I honestly didn't think I was going to make it through that one, I thought I was going to die! I ended up in the E.R. where they hooked me up to oxygen and gave me a shot of Dilaudid and benadryl. I don't know if it was the medicine and oxygen that worked, or if it was just time for the cluster to stop, but about a half hour after the shot, the cluster finally stopped. Before this "super cluster" hit, I was getting about 2-4 clusters a day... Since the "super cluster" ended, I haven't had any whatsoever! Nope, NONE!!! Isn't that awesome? 62 days of clusters, and now I'm free! I have no idea how long this will last, but I'm desperately hopeing that I'll be one of those people who get clusters only once in their lives, and then they never come back ever again. I know they probably WILL return at some point in time, but at least I know now that I can, and WILL, get through them. So thank you all for all of your support and wonderful words of wisdom. You don't know (well yes, you probably do.) how great it was for me to find this place, filled with such careing people, all going through the same thing that I am! You guys are wonderful people! Thank you all so very much!!!!!!

Shameless Glad to hear that you're getting some pain-free time. My cycles usually end just likes yours seems to have. Kinda like a "going-away present" from the beast. At the end of my last cycle, I had one that lasted from 1AM until 7AM. I thought my head would explode before it went away. After that, 1 small hit then nothing but shadows. Because I've had a few cycles end with a *BANG* like that, it almost makes me think that there is some type of "pain-quota" that the beast puts some of us episodics through. Hoping that its a LOOOONG time until your next cycle, grant

Boy, nothing like it when the beast decides to leave. During the few episodic cycles I have experienced the end of the cycle would always end the way you described in a horrible crescendo of pure pain, normally building up gradually over a week or two ending in one bitch of a ride. Good luck! Lee

Congratulations, Shameless. May you never experience the agony of a cluster headache ever again. This weekend, beginning on Friday night, has been a marathon of pain. Cluster Demon DJ: "Welcome to B.E.A.S.T. Radio!! Your favorite station for ALL PAIN, ALL THE TIME, rolling yet another HEAD-BANGER straight out of OUR studio, right into YOUR eye!! ROCK ON, Bi-yotches!!" (cut to opening guitar of "Layla."

I get dilaudid when I go to the ER because nothing else will touch it. I always end up with a few days of pain free living afterwards also. But then the ch always seem to return. I pray you have found something that works for you and that you stay pain free.

When it seems to "drain" away, it's like being let out of prison. We know exactly the feeling. Here's hoping he never darkens you skull again. Keep pluggin' Charlie

Glad to hear they've ended for now. Hope that's it for a long long time, and that there is a cure if they ever decided to rear their ugly face again.

It's a whole new world when it leaves. Get back into life as much as possible and LOVE IT. Pain free, don't underrate it. Kick his but out the door and slam it, then point the shotgun throught the window in case it even THINKS of turning around again. He has his turn, now it's yours. Hoping he gets the message. Kevin M
